I have been tryin to get the rivet out of the gas tube so I can release the stock handguard and replace it with the steel ventilated one. I have clamped it in a vice and used a tapered punch and hammer to punch it out but that is not working. Ive tried a couple other ways but am having no luck...it will not budge. Any tips or ideas on how I can get this out? Thanks in advance

one side is larger than the other so you would have make sure you're punching it the right way. IF you are doing it right you may have to grind down teh pin and replace it with a new one. that's what i ended up doing to mine.

There's gotta be something wrong....Mine comes out no problem...pretty sure I just pushed it out with a small screwdriver...you did try both sides before you went to the punch right?

Yea I did try both sides...I saw a video where a guy did it effortlessly with a screwdriver but it wouldnt work on mine. I read on an Amercian forum that a lot of people have this problem. I can see which side was the head of the rivet before it was grinded off and I tried punching it from the smaller end out but no dice.

It sounds like it's time for a drill press then my friend.
