I didn't see this anywhere else here, but it looks like they're now available in the U.S. for $599, but I haven't seen any Canadian ads for them yet ...

Don't let that 300 yard business put you off. If you're starting from scratch (see the No4T mount thread) and needed a telescope that you could shoot regularly at, say, 100 yards, you could cater for this lack of low range adjustment in the build-up.

I think that they were back engineered and not made to the original spec as stated although if they work it's pretty well academic I suppose.

Like RJW, I can' understand why they opted for the Mk2 instead of the mechanically simpler and cheaper Mk3. Maybe it was a case that they already had the CNC tooling for the Mk2's because these had been repro'd earlier in the year, albeit with duff markings. linkhttp://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=27180&p=149537&viewfull=1#post149537

Given the markings, I think they're pretty easily distinguished from the real thing, however, they could fool a novice collector if disreputable folks start slapping together some reproduction pads and flogging them at gun shows sold "as is" etc ......

By the way, here's an old four page thread on these started by Roger Payne last year when they first showed up in Europe ...

Repro No32's....I think they've arrived.... (click here)

I couldn't pay that much, but if they were affordable for me, I would buy one. I can't afford to to tie up in a collection the money a real No.4T goes for, but I'd be interested to own and shoot a faithful replica.

These scopes surfaced a couple years ago in France and sold for big$'s on eBay until just a couple months ago. I've not seen one however I've hd a couple emails from lads that have purchased them. Claim optics to be very good.

Gunparts are selling these at about a 1/3 the prices I have recorded. It caused a lot of debate as to origin and the chap selling never admitted that these were reproductions. Now they have hit the market what impact are they going to have on the real thing?

Well that's nice, but you STILL need the scope mount. Also the mounting pads if you want to make a fake sniper and the proper screws to secure those pads, PLUS a milling machine to fit the front pad. It ain't all that easy.

If the cams are good and hold zero I would consider one to supplement my 'T' just for sheets and giggles.

That's very true John and an excellent point … :)

What I never realized until Peter commented about it in the threadhttp://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=27180&p=149695&viewfull=1#post149695, was that there's a bunch of Roger Payne's repro mounts used on up to 50 legitimate L42's as replacement parts.

I never knew that, so I think I'll have to check the L42's in my wife's collection stored in the vault this afternoon, to see if she has any of Roger's mounts on them. :D

Doug

I thought the No.32 scope was 2.5x ?

This would be good for someone with an No. 4 T that is missing the scope, or their original scope is buggered but they have the scope bracket and rings to swap out the scope for shooting purposes. Getting an original bracket and rings is still an expensive undertaking. If someone is going through the effort to reproduce the No. 32 scope, they would make money reproducing the scope tin or later carrying bag. Lots of people looking for these. Possibly more of a money maker?
