i recently purchased a russian tokarev and some of the old military ammo to go with it, the issue i'm having is that sometimes you have to press the trigger a few times to ge the hammer to drop especially in a follow up shot

has anyone else had this issue?

if so how did you go about fixing it?
 
I've had exactly the same problem with mine except I'm using brand new S&B ammo.
Did a bit of cleaning and oiling and it cycled better. For about 6 rounds then it screwed up again. :mad:
It's kinda scary when you pull the trigger a few times and nothing, then a slight touch and "boom". :confused:
 
I would suggest a really good cleaning, especially on milsurp firearms. I have a TT-33 as well and pulled the slide off and scrubbed it clean with a toothbrush and mineral spirits. Also make sure the trigger mechanism is installed properly before re-assembly. So far I had no issues firing other than a feeding issue every once in a while.
 
my first thought was that maybe it needed a good cleaning, so i completley stripped the gun and cleaned and oiled it to the very best of my abilities, and still the same issue
 
I'm going to go ahead and assume you have not detail stripped the gun. Likely the firing pin channel is caked with cosmolene and probably the hammer group too.

Clean your gun properly and then let us know if it's still a problem. I'll bet it won't be.
 
sorry what i ment to say was that i did detail strip it, i guess completly refers more to feild strip. i did remove all cosmoline that likes to cause issues in the firing pin channel and it took me a while to figure it out but i disasembled the hammer grounp and cleaned and oiled that as well
