Ok, so I just picked up a remington 597 VTR and am now looking into making it look cooler. I am new to all this tactical modifying of .22's and was wondering if any of you could suggest sites or places where I can pick up parts to modify it.

Google searches for VTR accessories are fruitless so I turn to CGN :)

Thanks

Im really not sure why people always post to google something. I mean why have forums at all then, just google everything!

Must be upping the post count...

Same thing Im guilty of :D

I actually just want to join this thread because I believe I am purchasing a vtr as well, and like reading what others have to say about em, including modifying them!

The VQ stuff is a good start. The extractor and ejector help to losen trigger blah blah blah. You can add essentially any optics (scope, red dot) and a cheapo bipod if you want. A collapsible buttstock and a picatinny forend might be a nice touch too. The forend would also allow for a flashlight or a laser or whatever. Good enough for you anti-spammers out there? ;)

Any website in particular to look for?
Will any bipods fit on it? I've read somewhere that we had to be careful when selecting a bipod for it...

Try Fabsports for most of it, you may have to look around for some of it. I believe the bipod thing was that a lot of them sit too far forward. I personally don't see the problem, but the Harris' (and the knockoffs) should fit without too much of a problem.

I've been trying to find some iron sights for it. But seeing as the handguard doesn't have any rails on it, I haven't found any sights that could work.

I believe that Dlask arms in Vancouver makes a nice quad rail for the 597 VTR

The harris style bipods do stick out past the handguard a little but no big deal. Still rock solid. Just picked mine up a week ago and love how it shoots. Want to know where to get the adjustable stock though. Any ideas???

Sksavenger, i thought i explained to you the perils of the long clip. Gets caught in the steering wheel and the window frame, and that damn bipod will hang up on the mirror.:stirthepot2:
