New From Edmonton

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris, and I just recently got my PAL. I grew up in a typical suburban home in the Vancouver lower mainland. Let's just say I was never really subjected to hunting, firearms or anything of the sort. Now I live in Edmonton and have caught the firearms / hunting bug.

I started hunting with compound bows, and have taken quite liking to bowhunting, and archery tournaments. Even though I enjoy archery, I've always had my eye on a couple guns.. and now I can.

Currently, I've only purchased a Maverick 88 12 gauge but over the course of the winter / spring (as money rolls in) there's a couple other toys I have my eyes on. They include:

- .270 or 30-06
- .22LR or .17hmr
- SKS (just 'cause)

And those may change according to whatever new info is passed on. Which is really why I'm here. To gain knowledge, read opinions... and hopefully get some deals....

At the very minimum, I'm one more body/vote/signature on the pro-firearm side of the debate, and I think we need every last one we can find!
 
well welcome here :) you i am just approx 8 hours north of you! hopefully you have a good experience with guns and hunting. and also, welcome to the addiction of buying guns. i know i am...

Welcome to the form. I noticed you said PAL not RPAL. You're only into half the fun. Be sure to check out Saturday and Monday nights at the Phoenix Range for the most fun you ever had with your clothes on! If you join CHAS you can get onto the Phoenix range Tuesday nights for free.
 
You are correct - just non-restricted PAL for me. I did get it through Phoenix, as well as bought my 12ga there. The more I hang out there, the more I should have got the restricted. I may still do it.

So.. about that SKS "just 'cause" thing.. ya.. she came home with me tonight.... Just 'cause... lol (Chinese model) Edit: From reading another article: It is a chinese model produced in factory 26 in 1971.

And of course, its stable mate, my Maverick 88 12ga.

... Side note... how does one get a post count around here? Seems I'm still at a solid zero????
