Howdy all. I've just signed up for Mesa Tactical Forum because I've got a few questions about a some items for a Remington 870 Tactical. Ive posted this on Mesa Tactical Forum too to get more responses. If people know of other items that are similar to what I'm always open to suggestions :) Thanks All!

First off, I want to know if the two following items will be able to go on the same shotgun.

MESA TACTICAL SADDLE MOUNT SURESHELL CARRIER FOR REMINGTON 870,
http://www.gptactical.com/c378025057p17553110.2.html

and

MESA TACTICAL SURESHELL CARRIER FOR REMINGTON 870/1100/11-87, (4-SHELL,12-GA) RIGHT SIDE OF RECEIVER ONLY
http://www.gptactical.com/c378025057p17215037.2.html

I believe the two will fit on the same shotgun, but I'd just like verification

I'm also looking into a MESA TACTICAL LEO TELESCOPING RECOIL REDUCING STOCK KIT REMINGTON 870
http://www.gptactical.com/c378025057p17215036.2.html

I would just like a little bit of feedback on it. Strong points, weak points, etc etc.

In addition to the stock, I'm looking at a MESA TACTICAL SURESHELL CARRIER FOR M4 SOPMOD STOCK (4 SHELL, 12ga) right side.
http://www.gptactical.com/c378025057p17543607.2.html

I'm wondering if there is a 6 shell version available as well? I don't see one listed on the website, so I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this over and respond everyone! Take care!

Im also interested in the LEO stock conversion, but I was going to keep it simple and buy the adaptor only, then surf over to china and buy a cheap buffer tube and some magul MOE furnature, OD green.

All a project for after xmas. Should cost $180 plus some. Id suggest shopping around before buying everything from one place. Wolvering Supplies has alot more than they advertise.

you will be happy with an Mesa Tactical Parts top quaility and they look great. A couple cheap and must upgrades would be a new follower and a jumbo safty. under $50 for both of them.

I don't see how a new follower and a jumbo safety being a MUST. Cheap and cheery I agree, but I doubt he'll die immediately if he fails to get the said toys.

To each their own, My reasons right or wrong are.

The stock Rem follower is cheap like really cheap. and they do break personal experiance. A lot of people agree that it's a weak spot on the platform. so for $22 I bought a VangComp Stainless steel follower guranted for life. It will last longer than the shotgun. can always use it again. and its shiny

The jumbo safety because it is so easy, when on safe you trigger finger cannot help but feel it sticking out. and a quick flex of the finger pushes it to fire. Hard to explain but big diff.

Here is what I did< and the 3rd pic shows both the follower and safety

I have seen tons of duty 870 where I used to work and never seen one break. I've seen missing front beads, chunks missing from pads, no bluing left on mag tubes etc.

I also hunted in all kinds of weather with many different people from across this continent and never seen anyone needed to use a jumbo safety due to them not being able to find the button, regardless of brand of gun they used.

Hey I said they were my reasons. right or wrong but thats what I decide for reasons I have not for what is posted online.
just giving him some food for thought on some great cheap upgrades.

Oh for sure those are fun upgrades, and super easy to do. I love to play gunsmith with my 870 and norc as well. I'm just saying that replacing stuff isn't a MUST, just a manly way to play with our parkerized barbies.

I'm not playing around with it she is getting beating you will not see her on the EE. I built this to be used. you learn what wears out faster than other things when you shoot them.

So the duty guns aren't made to be used? They are just made to be banged around a car and back in storage everyday?

I've shot my 20ga 870 since I was 13. I also shot my HP9 for 4 years now. I don't see the follower getting worn out dis-proportionally to use.

So what's your profession that requires your gun to take a beating? More than full time guide with 100 plus days in the field?

Back to topic.

ALWAYSPERPARED when I was looking at the Mesa Products I was thinking the same thing. It would be cool to be able to have 6 or 8 shots on the Left side of the reciver and 4 shots on the right. That would look diffrent.

damm stop getting your online ego in bunch. I live in northern ontario I shoot off my deck and could even eat dinner and shoot some targets, might try that. I can shoot 24h a day if I want. There are still people who live in small towns and are able to shoot whenever we want.

For what it is worth, I have gone through a couple of the stock Rem Mag Followers as well, they were using plastic ones at one point, and those are the ones I had go. I have a couple of metal ones that a gunsmith gave me a few years ago. They haven't broken yet!

Come on guys, it doesnt matter who is right or wrong, he said it was his opinion and his reasoning, leave it at that. Thank you for the input, it has been helpful :). Ive already got a new follower as the one in my 870 had a crack in it already. Im glad to hear Mesa has solid stuff, that was a main concern I had. I didnt want to spend all this money on parts to have them fall apart on me after some light use. I do a lot of backwoods hiking, and a lot of overnight stays, so the gun takes a fair beating. Any additional input about these items or anything about Remington 870s would be much appreciated :)

@ Nisser

Yes, The 8 rounds on the left, 4 rounds on the right of the receiver I think would look very cool. Im going for hauling around a LOT of ammo, mainly for predator defense on long outings with friends. Weight isnt much an issue as I am a pretty solid guy. I agree Nisser, the look is different, but I think that is why I like it!

So can it be done? do they supply the longer pins? Ya it would be nice to have for me 10rd on the receiver 5rd on the stock and 7rd loaded(only for plinking).

I bought my shotgun for the same reason, well, before I found out that I can't bring it anywhere I want to go hiking, but that's beside the point.

Why do you need 2 side saddles for carrying extra shells? Pockets work find and will keep the ammunition fresh. From what I understand, primers are like sponges and soak up any rain...

LOL!

gear down, big rig!

After you install the side saddle and shoot it check to make sure the pins are still tight on the saddle. One of mine did back off after the first outing. Casey at Tacord told me this might happen and to check them. he installed the saddle. but after that so far i have never had it back off ecept for cleaning.

Mesa products are well built. Their carriers are an excellent design. I'm really surprised with all the factory problems coming out of the 870 express. It was my number 2 choice beside the Benelli and now I see the black oxide finish is a rust recepticle, the grey hammered finish flakes off, the followers crack and fail, internals are rough. My Benelli hasnt had any issues, non at all. It just runs strong. But back on topic. To the OP, all those shells are really going to weigh that beast down. Ive got a plus 2 nordic extension, 4 rd. mesa reciever carrier and 4 rd. mesa stock carrier. I can hold 15 rds. with one in the chamber, 6 in the tube and 8 in the carriers. With a weapons light it gets a bit heavy. I like using either pockets or pouches for extra shells but unless an army (zombie army) comes at you, you wont need all that ammo. Just my opinion. But good choice going with mesa, you buy once and thats it. Try a bit of blue loctite on the screws that hold the yokes to the brackets and they will hold just fine.
