GSG 1911.22 to 45acp?

I just seen a trade show video on the GSG 1911 in the comments they said the GSG 1911 was compatible and could be changed to a 45acp if desired.. has anyone tried to mount a .45 upper kit on this frame?

That would be a terrible idea. The frame is cast and the metal is not strong enough. DO NOT DO IT!

The 22 upper however can be used on some other 1911s as a 22lr converstion kit.

I didn't say I would do it, I seen a video recorded from a trade show booth saying it could be done. hence my question.. I was very surprised

Dear Brocolt,

The GSG 1911 can not be converted into any other caliber other then .22LR. The frame is not strong enough to handle the added stress from a 45 ACP round.

Short answer is "you can't get there from here", it doesn't work. Technical details explained in the above thread. The under barrel lug on the GSG 1911 .22lr topend would have to be 'reduced' to fit the slot milled into a 1911 frame in order to work. Perhaps, when the GSG 1911 .22lr "conversion unit" is made they will likely address this. But for now, lets just say you couldn't put the existing GSG 1911 .22lr top-end on your Norc 1911A1 for a "conversion unit"....

true. but you can buy a GSG1911-22 AND a norc1911 in 45 for a few hundred bucks less than you'd pay for a ###-ass kimber that doesn't ####ing work anyway. people who like 1911s should just buy both and quit trying to economize.
