Anyone know of a dealer that has the Ruger Redhawk DA .44 Magnum with 4.2" Barrel ? (Model KRH-444) Been looking around online but can't seem to find any for sale.

I asked Nicols, the importer, when they expected to get the same gun in only in .45LC. The reply was December so I would expect dealers to have them next month.

Take Care

Thanks Bob...I guess it's a "new" gun for Canada then which probably explains why no one has them yet. Thanks for the heads up.

I spoke to Frontier Firearms and they said that the .44 magnum in 4.2" barrel is a production issue - as in Ruger isn't making them until they have nothing else to do. Then they will fill the predominantly Canadian order with a short run.
They suggested could be as late as spring 2011.....

That's what I heard about the Rugers too and I for one, got tired of waiting. As of today, a brand new Smith & Wesson 629 Classic 5" .44 Magnum found a home.

I ordered one through Epps in October. I was told to expect it sometime early in the new year. If you like S&W...they're supposed to be coming out with a 4.2" .357 in the fall of 2011.
OMG the Ruger is pretty!

Location Snap Shots -- QC

Location snap shots (LSS)... not recommended. The Ruger business appears to be a sideline for other things.

LSS is located in Montreal area and are supposed to be Canada's Ruger parts supplier (according to Ruger at the USA telephone number that I called). I telephoned LSS about a part a few months ago ... and they said said oh yeah we'll get back to you. They never did and I finally got the part thru Brownells.

try Location Snap Shots Inc. they are Ruger distributor.

Call WSS in Kamloops, they had one for a customer last summer (I wish I were the one), they can order it for you, dunno what turn around is. I'm looking for one as well, thou in no rush.
S&W has shorter cylinder, so, some ammo WON'T work with it!!! Ruger is much stronger too, and trigger can be smoothed out. Thou, if in the bush and facing charging Griz, it won't matter :D
I'd prolly still wanna get one in 5.5", it's only 2oz heavier but muzzle velocity would be greater, thus the punch to the pooh...

Thanks guys. Sounds like I am not the only one that wants one of these.

BC Bigbore: How do you like the S&W 629 5" ? I was considering one of these as an alternate too...if this one is too hard to get.

Forget Snap shots. I had to deal with them in the passed NEVER AGAIN. it's not a gun store. I have no idea how they got the Ruger service contract. The guy seems to work from his house basement.
I lived 10 min away from there and could not bring my rifle I had to mail it. And pay shipping for both ways. Have after that it was all BS...H:S:

So I'm curious where you got these "facts" CeeZer? Was not the Smith & Wesson Model 29 not the grandaddy of our .44 Magnums? Seems strange that the cylinder would be shorter than the design of the cartridge it was built for  I've read that a Smith, fed a full time diet of thousands of exceedingly heavy loads can loosen up eventually but name a revolver that won't under those circumstances? And my 629's trigger is just fine, thank you.

Socrates, I haven't fired my 629 yet, but it feels great in my hands and the action is smooth with a trigger that breaks clean & crisp. Two of my co-workers also have the same 5" 629 and it was after their complete satisfaction with their's that I picked up mine. But once the 4.2" Rugers are available (some day) I'll likely add one to the collection...just because ;)

I think CeeZer is referring to custom loads using oversize and overweight bullets that end up sticking out further than the factory standards. I've been looking at .44Mag reload info and there's some really crazy loads that some of the guys have come up with using big heavy bullets that stick out further than the cartridge spec.

I owned one... it was a few points over 105mm. Totally legal, but not much room for crown work. ;)

I liked it, but prefer the grip/trigger of a Super Redhawk (it's identical to the GP100), so I sold it, bought a Super Redhawk and had the barrel chopped to 107mm.
Something for you to consider.

I'm satisfied.
Mmmm... gonna go shoot it in a few hours :).

i went the other way- got a 5.5 redhawk- which was STANDARD barrel length, and standard pricing for a redhawk- i couldn't see the justification of the price increase for the "novelty" barrel- besides, this is a 44 mag, not a 357/38 and needs a longer barrel to "look " right- the 4 inch or thereabouts is best suited to the 38/357 series
i also went with the standard redhawk , not the super b/c i like the feel of the grip better-
and i can mount a rail on the 5.5- something you can't do yet with the shorter barrel- and irons don't "cut it" on the front sight anymore with my eyes
