Lever .22s

I own a Henry 20" Octagon bbl. This rifle is very accurate with the stock iron sights and balances really well. The lever action is slick and fun to cycle 16 rnds of .22lr....as fast as you can!
I'm sure the levers mentioned above are all good but I chose mine because I like the look of the Octagon bbl and I think the weight gives it a "real rifle" feel. YMMV

As far as plastic parts(as someone mentioned)...haven't found any yet. At least it won't rust;)

My Dad bought a Henry in .22 Mag this spring. Took a few hours of messing around just to get it to fire. The firing pin was stuck/jammed. Been working good since but I wasn't too impressed.

I have an Ithaca model 72 Saddlegun. It is, IMO, the best quality .22 levergun I've laid hands on - and I've 'felt' them all...
*edit - I haven't really felt ALL of them, but all the standard ones we can get our hands on. The Ithaca just feels more crisp and better quality, kind of like an Audi compared to say a Dodge (Lol).

I had a henry frontier octagon barrel and traded it away just a few months back...the "cheap" parts in that gun work just fine..and keep the cost down.

I used it for a couple years for rabbits and gophers and it was awesome...i regret trading it so much I am looking to buy another one...I want to try a golden boy this time.

+1 for the henry....awesome fun little rifle and customer service is second to none!

Reason to have a lever .22? Just plain fun. You can lay down fire with a flick or a little more of the wrist. You can make up prepared tubes to ease reloading.

Took 2 new shooters out with a 10/22 with folding stock and a BL-22: the BL-22 got the Most Use as they though it was the Most Fun.

I have the same one, I bought it in favour of the lack of plastic front site.
It has a better feel than the std model. Smooth action, octagonal bbl and accurate. Bunnies this Christmas is in order;)

Levers are great for just about anything......except shooting prone...:p

Plus :) , they often feed "troublesome" ammo a lot more easily than some finicky semi-auto's....:yingyang:

I have a base model Henry and love it! It's cheap, accurate and loads of fun too shoot. I'd say it's my favorite rimfire... I don't think you can go wrong with a Henry as long as you aren't too hard on it ( alloy construction ).

I've been thinking of getting one as well but i hate loading and unloading tube mags. Do you guys know of any lever .22's with detachable box mags?

i don't see one on their website... no levers at all for that matter.

or were you making a smart alec remark referring to a 10/22

He's talking about the 96/22...it's discontinued. Looks exactly like a 10/22 with a lever. You could probably find one used.
