Hello,
I've never shot slugs before (Never needed to, I always went deer hunting with a rifle) so I thought, hey.. I have a 12 gauge remington 870 and I'd like to try a box of slugs..
The only thing I'm not sure about is what barrel should I use with what kind of ammo.
There is sabot slugs, rifle slugs, rifled barrels etc..

Right now I have a clean bore barrel, 20'' full choke, what kind of 12 gauge slug should I use?

Thank you!:)

This is covered extensively in pal course.

Sabot slug: a fully rifled barrel.
Rifled slug: smoothbore barrel (regular)

clean doesnt exist, you must want to mean smoothbore.

Rifled slug is what you are looking to buy for your gun. Full choke is okay, but since you have a 870, you can change the choke for an imp. cyl. (about 20$ at the store)

any 12 ga. rifled slug that your shotgun is chambered for will work. You can get rifled choke tubes that allow you to use sabot slugs, but they wont be as accurate as a fully rifled barrel. Shotguns will usually have a preference to a specific slug. They dont shoot all slugs with the same results. You will probably need to buy as many different types as you can to see which ones group the best, try different choke tubes too if your barrel is threaded for removable chokes. Its best not to fire them through anything tighter than a full choke, some will shoot best with cyl. others IC and some even like MOD, just play around with it until you find what your gun likes.

I did my PAL course with 1 hour of sleep and a huge hangover so I don't remember anything from it except how to properly handle a firearm. I didn't remember most of the details in this course. And that was many years ago. :(Thanks alot for the answers guys.
Oh and yeah, I meant a smoothbore.

So rifled 12 gauge slugs and try as many as possible to see what kind of slug my remington 870 shoots the best. Thanks alot!:)
