There is a hole in the mag now, my frankenpin is long gone, I didn't even realize it was gone until I stripped it down for cleaning. I think I'm going to go with the bolt, I need a 1/4inch bolt that's 1 1/4inches long to hit the 5rnd mark?

oh my god cant beleive all thes baby killer sks owners lol only kidding personaly i would go with one of the aftermarket duck bill mags

I think the first thing you should do is go onto a forum that LEO'S, "Big Brother" and 1000's of people read and admit to them that you are indeed a criminal. Then sit back and wait for al qaeda to contact you.

BTW the edit feature on this site works great ;]

Good god! Call the UN! Go and get de-contaminated, then turn yourself in. Bring all of your firearms, ammunition and bomb-making equipment (reloading supplies).Call 911! Quick! just DO something!!!!

Look closer.

The neatest conversion I have seen is one where the follower spring guide stud is replaced with a longer one. Very unobtrusive. Would take a bit longer to do.

This thread is really quite silly. OK, the blocking system fails. Should be really, really, really obvious that repairing it or replacing the magazine would be the legal options.
But no, the first thing to do is announce it on the 'net.

I don't agree. His mag broke, and he wanted to hear some ideas on how to fix it, and I would guess he will pick the one he is capable of doing. Nothing wrong with him starting this post at all. No different than all the guys who has posted that their SKS went full auto on them, and asking what to do.

What I am announcing? I'm a responsible law abiding gun owner who's mag pin failed magazine and wanted to see what my options are for a fix. The mag is now repaired thanks to this thread.

Frankie is to the rear.

I know franken-pinning is worse from a collector standpoint, but in my mind it's better from a shooting standpoint. I used to own some Chinese SKS with a type of franken-pin that contacted the follower arm in the middle. When I pushed in 5 bullets from a stripper-clip with 10, this put some force on the follower arm. It eventually got bent out of shape and failed to lock the bolt back on the last round.

In that picture, the franken-pin contacts the follower arm at the rear, where it holds bullets. I think this is optimal because it will prevent the follower arm from being bent out of shape.
