nope it comes to your house, and the seller calls ahead to transfer it.
If you fail to sign for it at your residence (I.E. not home at the time CP attempts delivery), you will require a STATT to pick it up from the PO. Not a big deal in AB, have your ref # and PO address ready when you call in.
its still stubid... but they like makeing things a hassle.. goes for all non restrictes.. I had the post office mail it from the post office back to my house saved me a phone call.. I told them to knock or ring the bell this time and I sent in the video of the driver just slaping a note to the door then running off..
I have gotten several handguns in the mail and I still get a kick out of it...........ofcourse the dealer did all paper work, I just had to sign for it at the postoffice..............
For a pistol that goes back to the PO due to you not being home: You don't KNOW they are pistols, they are just mail. Go pick them up. That's one reason you don't write GUN on the package.
edit to add: i can guarantee your 'postal delivery person' didn't have an STATT
I suppose it goes without saying that you mustn't OPEN said mail before you get home though....

I agree, considering my PO is two blocks away from my house. Still the AB CFO is really good to deal with. Maybe at most 20 minutes of elevator music before they pickup, then it's two minutes of exchanging info and they email the STATT to you. Should mention that twice now CP has simply left a signature required package in my mailbox
Biggest hassle so far has been tranfering a none restricted no SN 22 rifle to my son. That was a bit of challenge to say the least.Because Canada Post delivered the parcel to my house by mistake!How did you know aunt Betty sends me socks & underwear?
If your post office is in the local 7-11, it's kinda cool. You can say that you've carried a pistol around inside your neighbourhood convenience store
This is definitely one of those gray areas. I was really surprised to find out that the packages are not marked with giant red warning signs or some crazy thing, let alone any indication of what might be in them. Some airlines demand external warning indicators even when transporting knives by air inside checked baggage. But the fact is that the postal guys at pickup have no idea what might be inside, and technically either do you.

BTB, You don't have to personally sign for the package. Anyone (adult I assume) home at the time of delivery can sign for reciept of the package. In fact you can have a neighbor sign, by simply leaving instructions for the delivery to be taken next door. Still the STATT is not a big deal.

If you live alone and know that you will not be home for deliveries, ask
your dealer or shipper to address it to
Card for Pick-up
then your address.
This way CP will not even attempt a delivery but will leave you a notice
to pickup. Once you have that, your CFO will issue your ST-ATT on the phone.
Do not gamble, hoping that you'll be home. I've had a couple of (against-signature) parcels left at my doorstep (in an apartment building.) The postman though he was doing me a favour. Luckily those two parcels were books and CDs but my apartment is right next door to the elevators and every single (or married) Tom, #### and/or Harry could have walked away with the parcel. And the strange thing is, that when I tracked these parcels, they were shown as delivered and I was shown a sample of my own signature (not in my handwriting.) But CP achieved the miracle of having me at two different physical places at the same time.

Mine show up at the door. I sign for it and that's it.

You to eh. Both of mine were pistols and I was not impressed one bit!
Another time when the CP delivery truck arrived I went to greet the driver and had the package literaly launched out of the truck into my hands. No sig requested.
