I looked at one of these a few years ago and I really liked it. I was thinking about getting one, but I heard that they have reliablity problems, is this true? and if so can anythingbe done about it? What about accuracy? Is anybody stocking them currently? Any information would be appreciated.

From what I`ve heard, the reliability issues with the Mosquito were for some of the earlier guns that were made. Any 22 and most semi auto rimfires can be a little picky with ammo until they`re broken in a bit (usually 500-1000 rounds). That`s my experience. Great gun though.

yes they are restricted, all handguns are.

Also if you want a Sig in .22LR then look into the P226 chambered in .22LR. Im not talking a conversion kit but an actual P226 chambere in .22LR.

The difference is the Mosquito isn't a full scale copy of a P226, the mosquito is smaller, granted it is cheaper though by about $200 I think.

If you shoot cci shells mine fires everytime without issue. It is a very accurate little plinking gun. They can be very picky on ammo.

CCI is high-quality stuff....

I had one recently and it worked flawlessly with CCi Blazer which is cheap bulk ammo!

I never tried much else as that is really all I shoot.

Didn't work with Winchester Xpert though.

As is the Blazer stuff from CCI (groups nice and tight compared to Winchester 333/555's, too) ! :D

Stay away from them. My slide cracked just after I got the stupid POS to work its way through a full ten round mag without jamming on CCI Mini-Mags. Over a year at the repair depot, came back with a new slide (known factory defect). Now the ####ing thing is click bang click bang click click click bang FTE click bang FTF WTF...

I have had one for 3 years now it is is great, actually we put a box of winchester 555 (walmart) through it yesterday at the range and maybe 10-15 rounds misfired and some of them went off on the second trigger pull. I have never used mini-mags and in my opinion some of these cracking issues are likely caused but the hyper velocity ammo with the light recoil spring. I recommend the mosquito. I have about 5000 rounds through mine now.

This pistol was designed for particular ammo. If you shoot those that it was designed for it runs very well. I owned one and have since sold it to a friend. He is very happy with it as I was. Once the mags were broken in it fired better and will fire most of the ammo that we have put through it. It is a little fussy in that it fires the copper plated rounds best.

Cheers

Then what would you recomend in a compact, non-prohib pistol? or is there such a thing?

I have a Mosquito and after I polished the feed ramp it runs just fine.

Check out the SIG Classics which are chambered in .22cal. Questar is a site sponsor (banner above) and has them (as well as others I'm sure).
