I just took the drive to Underwood and picked up one of their $149 black bolt SKS'. I'm really happy to have one again. From a quick check of the markings it seems to be a 1954 Tula refurb. I also picked up 1200 rounds of czech ammo and came out with a $394 bill! On the front sight there are are few markings and I heard they meant it was selected for accuracy. Any opinions on this?

Thanks guys, I'm glad to know the front sight marks don't mean anything, and I'm really happy with it, the black bolt is really growing on me. The guys at Lake Huron Rod and Gun also had chrome bolts for around $199, but I went there for a $149 black bolt and that's what I came out with.

This is going to be my loaner gun for bribing friends to go to ORA vintage rifle matches in 2011.

Even IF the numbers have something to do with accuracy (Idoubt it), yours is stamped #1, the best grade.

Nice gun! I just bought another black bolt Izzy today myself.
