I looking for a new, short, lightweight, bolt action, open sights, 308 or higher. There seem to be plenty of levers in this category, but few bolts. The Tikka T3 Battue is one example.

Any other suggestions? Must meet all six of those criteria. Assume that price is not an issue.

There is few but open sights are an issue. My Father is in the same market and T3 Battue is the only one in this category.
I bought myself Ruger Ultralight but it does not have open sights.
There is few Euro guns that you would like but they are very expensive

just a heads up guys:eek:...he's really serious about the open sights:cool:...or maybe he just doesn't like Kimbers...judging by the PM I just received from bhunts...a copy of which is below...:D

What a useless comment. Nice work driving up up your number of posts. People really respect that. Not.

And here's the PM I received from Rembo:

Who cars [sic] what your [sic] looking for exactly because i think Kimbers are great. So what if there [sic] not short or don't have open sites [sic].

Nicely done sir!

Actually getting a rifle without irons has the advantage of not having to swap those sights out for better quality ones if you find you don't like them. When I was looking for a light rifle for my wife, I got her a 6.5 pound Husky 1600 carbine with the 21" barrel and had the LOP shortened to fit her while it was being tweaked. You can find these rifles at Tradex from time to time. I didn't care for Husqvarna's factory sights, so I had a Ruger barrel band front sight installed with an XS rectangular post and an XS ghost ring rear sight which attaches to a Weaver base. She seems to like this arrangement much better then shooting with a scope. When I mounted a 1.75-6X Leupold with a German #1 reticle on it she said she wanted her irons back. My grandson shot this rifle nearly everyday he was here last summer, and he loved it.

The way you read it is the way you want to hear it, not the way I wrote it.

Drop the sandbox antics for a bit.

If you find a rifle that you want without sights it's a small matter to have a front sight installed and go with a removeable peep sight on the rear,...there are rear sights that fit onto a Weaver style base. You do want detachable scope rings with sights anyway.

I've known Rembo a long time. Frankly sir, I don't believe you. He gave you another option to consider. Good day. - dan

X2 who are you trying to fool? You ask for suggestions, you get them, then cry when they arent the ones you wanted.... :slap:

If precision shooting isn't involved, I would've also opted for just those irons -that set up is great.
