IDPA World Championship

Hmm. Not that I'm a member, but limiting entries to specific rankings seems contrary to the ideals of IDPA?

A bunch of us have been to that facility many times for training with Graffuel, Bragg, Puentes plus a lot of IPSC matches - the Fl. Open and Monster Match. If you have any questions with regards to hotels, directions, towns, etc. don't hesitate to ask.

Some quick notes: Frostproof has one small motel that the proprietor told me last year he planned to close. He, himself couldn't recommend any place to eat in town.

Your closest civilization with hotels and restauruants is Sebring 30 min to the south. Orlando is a more than 45 minutes, count on an hour and a half.

There's a hotel / dude ranch down the road from the range that you could stay at, but I won't ever again.
I now know where old Americans go to die.:puke:

Best route in and out from Tampa / Orlando is I-4 to 27 Southbound, then East on 630.

The facility is great; if you don't like the food at the range, there's a McDonalds 10 min back up the road in Frostproof.

I'll be back at USA for the Florida Open for the 11th straight year this February.

If you mean Bob's comment on "Marksman or better" - MM is basically the lowest level of classified IDPA shooter. You will make at least Expert with your level of skills. Just make sure your gun complies with the rules.
I'll be execising the idea of going too, prolly driving to Seattle and flying from there, got a bunch of miles, hotel points and Hertz points to use, so the trip will be cheap :D

My advice to Canadian shooters who intend to attend this event is to monitor HQ and IDPA Canada website for Application Forms in late April, early May. This event will be well attended by both "International" shooters and US shooters. The event will fill up early.

Slavex most of the large Sanctioned events limit attendance to Marksman level shooters or better. This has been the standard minimum level for the US Nationals and I don't expect it to be any different for the World shoot.

By rule Match Directors may allow Novice shooters to attend Sanctioned events - see page 63 of the rule book.

Hey Bob,

Any idea as to match fee?

I would imagine it'd be higher than the nationals, wouldn't it?

No, this match replaces the US Nationals so I don't expect the match fee to be any higher. In any event the fees for this match haven't been announced and I doubt they will be until the application forms are out.
