I was at the range with my new Grizz 12.5" for the first time and was having issues reloading as the carrier kept flipping up into the chamber area when I was pushing rounds up into the magtube. The carrier is supposed to have downward spring pressure so that rounds are 'guided' into the magtube when reloading, right? I remember my 590A1 being extremely easy to reload while staying on target. Other than that annoyance, she functioned like a champ! Can any of you confirm that your Grizz is doing/not doing the same thing? Am I missing a spring? Thanks!

Really? The carrier is supposed to be loosey-goosey like that? I'm new to 870's and clones. I was trying to find answers on another forum and saw this discussion:
"The only noticible difference with the heavier carrier dog spring is you have to put MORE pressure on the lifter to push it out of the way when loading."
This leads me to believe that the carrier is supposed to have spring pressure and you push up a bit so you can load a round into the tube (just like my Mossberg). I'm confused? Wish I had my Grizz on me at the office right now, haha.

Yup, god knows how many times I got my finger jammed up in that thing when I was little.
If you want it out of the way, you have to pull the pump handle back a wee bit (maybe 1/2 way). Then the carrier will stay up. This works better for shorter forends.
