Hi everyone. I'm new to CGN, and I'm here to learn more about guns and share information with y'all from a female perspective. I'm part of Girl's Guide to Guns (www.girlsguidetoguns.com) and am happy to (try and) answer any female-specific questions. I'm no expert but I strive to be as knowledgeable as possible, and might even write a few articles based on what inspires me here! Also, if you have any article ideas please do share them.

I'd love to hear if y'all know of any women's shooting clubs or groups that GG2G should connect with!

Joking aside, welcome to CGN. You might get more responces from a sub-forum under "CGN Community" on the first homepage.
There are two sub-groups there, CGN Youth and CGN Ladies.
I think you'll enjoy this website myself.

Howdy and Welcome to CGN!
It's nice to see some Ladies out there forwarding and promoting firearms issues!
In Canada the anti's use "women" in that they frame the debate around violence against women when in fact women who are armed reap as much or more benefits then men.....

welcome to cgn good to see more females in the shooting sports.I only speak for myself and not the others here but i dont know of any clubs dedicated to woman in canada, while i certainly do my part in introducing new people to the sport,I would have to say a good 70% percent are woman.I like to think of the sport as an equal footing for both men and women no bias as to gender,we all shot on the same fireing line its nice to leave the gender thing at home shooting is for all to enjoy and i would really hate to see womans clubs open up as there is already to much segregation between the ###s in places like work and wages.but have fun with the sight there are alot of good people here.

Welcome to CGN - I am all for furthering female interest in firearms, they are far under represented, and having more people on board will help the greater cause

Hello and welcome.

We try to get women more involved at our club by holding Women's day fun shoots. A combination of rifle, pistol and trap. Not really competing with each other, just intorducing them to various firearms and shooting styles while having fun. We're trying to get our local female C.O.'s and RCMP members to take it on so it's women teaching women. Lots of positive response so far.

I have to tell you about my experience at Front Sight. My nephew and I took his gf and my wife, and while we were pursuing the rifle side of things, the two ladies took the Defensive Handgun course. We met for lunch in the school lecture room the first day, and there was my wife with a Glock holstered on her hip, and a huge grin on her face. I asked her how that felt, and she grinned even wider, and said, "It feels right." At the end of the four days, after returning the rental guns, as we retreated to our hotel, she kept brushing her right hip and saying "I feel naked."

That about sums up the Canadian condition, I'd say. Hopefully, a few more Girl Guides will add fuel to the Forlorn Hope in our battle for the right to carry. Women in this country would be far safer if they could follow the example of women in thirty some American states and get a CCW on a "shall issue" basis. Oh, and she outshot a goodly portion of the male students on the course as well. Hand strength left the administration portion of the course a bit challenging, but hey, if you can load it on your own time, carry it always, maintain it properly and practice, tactical and emergency reloads, and even clearance of stoppages are almost academic to a defensive shooter. Far better than the pathetic wimpering of that Florida school board last week! A certain B.C. pig farmer would have had a far shorter run has a few of his subjeccts been carrying.

Thanks! I've already requested permission to join the Ladies' forum - I'll definitely check out the Youth one.

That's so true! Even just owning and shooting my own gun makes me feel more empowered in general and I know I'd feel much better if I was ever in a situation where I might have to use it for protection!

Welcome to CGN!
I do have a question. Do you feel women in your neck of the woods are more reluctant than men to carry a gun?
Not really. I'm down in Texas, actually, and there's a joke that you never want to piss off a Texas woman, because there's a 1 in 4 chance she's PMS'ing and a 1 in 2 chance she's carrying! (I've no idea if those stats are right, but it's pretty funny!)

I'm not sure how active this company/group is but they are an Ontario based group that sells pink shooting accessories for women. They also organize outings to help introduce females to the sport.

Their website seems to indicate no activity since late 2009 though.

Although I agree that there shouldn't be any separation, for a lot of women heading to the gun range for the first time can be intimidating with a bunch of men around, so something like a woman's shooting organization can offer a level of comfort that would invite more women to the sport. :) Not necessarily separate ranges, but designated times or the like.
