Merry Christmas to me! Early present, CSA carbine with lots of pics!

Learned a few things tonight; the folder screw wasn't staked in like the one on the torture demo gun, my NEA lower handguard fit quite nicely, and I think I like it better with the CTR on it.

Clobb, as pictured, there's no glare from the light on anything but the muzzle brake. An offset ring would make it more ergonomic.

Well Teapot2 you may claim to be the home of Russian scopes in Canada but you know zero about MY RIFLES!

The CSA Rifles, Carbines and Compacts are manufactured to MY specifications to suit our market here in Canada. They meet our legal requirements and I had them configured to My specifications, this was based on MY experience with the Canadian market, customer feedback and presenting the best value for money.

All CSA Rifles, Carbines and Compacts that are currently being manufactured for WOLVERINE SUPPLIES will come from the factory fitted with a side rail scope base. All Carbines and Compacts will be fitted with the CZ side folding stock. We have other stock options but they would only raise the price so right now we are not offering any other stock options. The side rail scope base is an AK type and the scope mount that we supply can be fitted to the base with the folding stock installed!

There are many self proclaimed experts on this forum, mostly anonymous! (ever wonder why?) but if you don’t know what you are talking about, you had best keep quiet. In plain English, if you are not talking from your own personal practical experience keep quiet, or run the risk of making a fool of yourself.
 
Since you're here, John, do you know what thread the scope rail holes are? I'd like to get some button head or set-screws to fill the holes when the rail is off.

funny is right cos i have a NEA gen 1 on my CZ858-4 and a NEA gen 3 on my CZ858-2 and both are too loose on my FSN.

Sorry. Don't mean to hijack but I think it is necessary. We need more info on the fit and finish of the FSN rifles. I suspect the FSN rifles are not as tight as the 858 or perhaps the CSA. My front lower hg ferrule came from the factory super wobbly with tons of play. Both of your hand guards fit loosely. In addition I had cosmetic issues. Not that they affect function but it may be a QC thing. There may be others with similar issues. It might be the assembly of the FSN. Verdict is still out though.

You're probably better off starting a FSN thread. The info won't get lost in the background noise.

I imagine the loose-fitting aftermarket parts on the FSNs has to do with the bluing. It doesn't add any thickness to the outside dimensions of the gun.

I just tried the suggestion given to me by supernova. I had a 20 year old set of 11mm rings so I gave it a shot. It works great! It clips into the bayonet mount like it was made for it. It mounts the light right under the bore out of the way. It's far enough forward that it shouldn't be a nuisance under recoil but close enough that you can activate the light with a small movement of you index finger. It's very solid as well, I grabbed the rifle by the flashlight and shook the sh!t out of it, stayed on tight, no movement. I will be looking for a better set of rings though.

I'll post pics as soon as photobucket finishes messing around with their damn server....

Here we go...I have to say Stevo the finish on your rifle looks much better than the CZH 2003's.

That looks like a great way to mount a light there, nice work. Maybe with a pressure pad tailcap so it's easier to turn on/off? Is 11mm the width of the groove the ring was designed for? I can't say I'm familiar with that size ring.

Except for the colour change to black from the blue/grey I'd say the finish on the CSA is identical to the CZ's. I agree, it does look much nicer in black.

Yeah, I need a new click tail cap for the G2, will have to source one. Right now it has a pressure pad but you have to turn it all the way for it to say on.

11mm rings were used for older 22 LR's. That used to be the standard dovetail size for them. You can find the rings on ebay very cheap. Just do a search on 11mm scope rings and a bunch come up. Some, as supernova pointed out to me, come with a set screw which you can use to lock it into the hole on the bottom of the lug. It's not really needed though, as the claws at the end of the lug would not allow it to move under recoil.
 
Thanks for the info. That looks like a very slick way to mount a light on a shorty.

Is there room on the bayonet lug for two rings?
