Best non-res SHTF gun?

P90.

Barreled to Non Restricted, Still several inches shorter then even a Tavor.

I got lots of ammo for mine.

Short, Light, 50 rounds per magazine in a shtf situation.

Backup would be an AR for long term ammo availability.

why not just have a tavor with the shorter barrel? Much better than having to carry two guns of different caliber at the same time especially if SHTF im sure you'll be packing much more than just guns and ammo.

Because the Tavor is much heavier, and the firearm does not fit me very well. The P90 is small and handy.

Also, does the short barrel make the Tavor restricted?

yeah it does make it restricted:p

but ionno, IMO having to alternate later on with another rifle kinda defeats the purpose of having 1 lightweight rifle though since you're going to carry twice as much firearms.

I gotta admit though, I did handle a PS90 w/eotech a while ago and it is a very neat gun indeed. It so small and light and comfy. the only turn off was because it shoot ammo from another planet:p

Hey all,
Last thread pretty much crowned the AR. Now, let's try it again with one BIG restraint : Which one do you consider as the ultimate SHTF non-restricted ? My heart goes to the PE-90, but weight might make it somewhat less desirable. Let's hear ya!!

Sorry, I don't have the time to read 27 pages of this thread but please allow me to ask an obvious (at least to me) question for your consideration. If the SHTF why would you care wether it was non-restricted or not? If your life depended upon the use of your firearm, who gives a sh!t?

From what I have (since I don't buy guns for this kind of scénario):

My Fabarm Pro Force 14'' with a full bag of bird shot, slug and 00 buck.
My std 10/22 with 2000 rds and a lot of mag.
My Lee Enfield set up as a scout rifle with 20'' barrele and a lot of stripper clip.

Now, if I had the choice:

SKS and lots of clip and ammo (and a cleaning kit!!)
My fabarm:D
My 10/22:D
A CZ 75 in 9mm

M-14 with the sage EBR stock with 6-24 x 50mm 4200 elite for big game and distance harassing + a few hundred rounds

10/22 with a nice light synthetic stock and 4 30-50 round mags (not sure what's available for this gun unrestricted) with a low power wide fov scope ... maybe red dot plus a few thousand rounds

a few 1L plastic bottles and lots of steel wool and duct tape to make a home made supressor out of (get a few uses out of the 22, but only 1 shot with the 308)

This came up several times and I think some people are missing the point...

If TSHTF, than YES, restricted, unrestricted, prohibited matters little... except prior to TSHTF scenario, many people DO NOT have the ability to procure the prohibited or restricted firearms... so the question remains, for all the poor bastards that could only aquire non-restricted firearms, which of these would be the best when TSHTF.

I'm pretty sure if SHTF if the police don't have bigger fish to fry your guns will be gone (Katrina for example.) If not non-res, res, prohib will be irrelevant.

As for non-restricted I love my XCR, and SKS would be second because ammo is plentiful, as plentiful can get in Canada. Best ammo>weight ratio would be a 10/22, or something in .17hmr if your not planning on hunting anything too big.

If it has to be unrestricted then I'd say my 20" ss lever action in 44mag. It holds 11, weighs 7#, always goes bang and has virtually no maintanence requirements and i've got a s.load of ammo for it.

Whatever you have with you, in which case a Winchester 94 or Marlin in 30-30 is hard to beat. Great truck gun, ammo is readily available, will deal with most problems inside of 200Y more accurately and decisively than many black rifles, and generally non threatening in appearance.

I'm in on the SKS as well, can literally get ammo anywhere they sell firearms, although its not the most accurate you can put it through hell and back and it will still go bang.

LOL what is that based on? I'd have to strongly disagree.... in a fight 30rd mags and semi auto make 5-10 rounds and a lever look like a joke.... accuracy would be at least equal or better from the average black rifle (lever's aren't known to be tack drivers anyway) and what does decisively mean in this context anyway?
