1911 magazines

I just bought a 1911 and I need some extra mags for it. Marstar sells Mec Gar mags; I have used the CZ and Beretta Mec Gar mags and found their quality pretty good; what is the quality like on their 1911 magazines? Are there any other magainzes that you would recommoend?

the quality of the 1911 mecgar bags is excellent. I used 10 rounders for years. The mags are made of some sort of ordinance steel as I could not tap them for a bumper pad. Broke two carbide bits trying.

The finish was very resistant to rust and the function was excellent.

The unnamed mags that came with my Sig were no good.

Dlask mags are really nice, I'm very impressed with them. Norc mags work good, Wilson combat 10rounder is really nice.

I've got a chip McCormic 10 rounder that is a nice magazine but the 10th round is really hard to put in, and will not insert on a closed bolt.

That's all I've had the opportunity to try.

Must been a while back, they are on sale for $34 from $38 on their site right now.

Stupid question, what is left handed magazine?
my guess: made for left handed 1911 like the custom ones they used to make (or do they still make it)

I am currently using WIlson Combat 47Ds no issues. Is there a Cdn source for Tripp ?

directly from Tripp, they love Canadians

I think regular ones have a cutout for mag release on right side of the mag and 'lefties' have the cut on left side, just take a look at front of the mag.

I'd say Tripp is the best in all aspects, but there is nothing wrong with ACT at all.
Wilson mag springs tend to sag overtime way more than other makes, and it affects reliability of the mags.

I bought 4 8 round STI mags from Armco to augment my 2 Wilson Combat mags that came with my SW 1911. I can't see any real difference except color. So far the STI's work as well as the Wilsons.

Got my Dlask 1911 mags today. The quality is night and day compared to the ones that came with my Norc.

For 8 round .45 I like the Wilson 47D.

Trip Research for all others. They make fantastic magazines. If your gamey the Techwear magwell with Trip mags seem go good together.

I would recommend the 10mm for 40 and the 40 for 9mm.
