My wife bought me a ChargeMaster Combo last year for Christmas. It died on the 20th of Dec. It would not turn on. I phoned RCBS today. Even though the warranty ran out a month early (she bought it in November), they asked me to smash the unit, send them pictures of the smashed machine and they would have a new unit sent out. I did.
I received an email back five minutes later saying a new machine will be sent out tomorrow and I can expect it to arrive within 10 days.

Now that is service from a company who stands behind their product.

Would you mind very much sending me that picture, LOL!

Send me your email addres via PM. I took a ball peen hammer to it. The darn cover is tough! It too three or four hard wacks to punch a hole through it. The scale really is a worthwhile addition to your bench and I would strongly recomend it to anyone who reloads rifle using stick powders.

My original Chargemaster had the key pad die on it long after the warranty ended. I e-mailed RCBS and they said to send it back, they sent me a brand new one with the auto dispense feature. Can't complain with that service, RCBS went beyond what they had to do for me too.

I am another one that they replaced a Chargemaster for. Mine wouldn't turn on I called them and they sent me a new one straight away no questions asked. The girl I talked to said it was an issue with the older model and my new one would be good. Service like that keeps me buying RCBS!!!

There you are. It took eight blows with a ball pean hammer to put a hole in the cover.:D

I bougt a used scale one day and the leveling foot was missing. I sent them an email asking how to order one. They responded something like: "I assume your foot is broken, I,ll send you a new one" A few days later there was one in the mail.

Since then RCBS is the first choice for reloading equipment.

okay. I am fond of RCBS and their service, I have availed myself of it several times, however, there have been 3 posts here which disturbed me. Each was saying that their Chargemaster broke in some way before it's warranty ran out or shortly thereafter. Has RCBS fixed this problem? I have several gift cards from WSS I got for Christmas totalling several h undred dollars and was thinking of upgrading. I really don't want to wind up buying one and then have it break when I need it most.

Buy one they work great and are very useful if you reload using stick powders. All mechanical devices can malfunction. I am sure they sell thousands of these scales every year and a handful malfunction and require replacing. I am sure it is cheaper for RCBS to simply ship out a new one rather than maintain a repair service for them. As a consumer you want to know the manufacturer stands behind their product and RCBS does.

FYI if the scale dies well after warranty they presently will replace the scale for $65. Mine was just outside of warranty and they still replaced it for free.

I had the same issue. My origional chargemaster wouldnt throw an accurate charge after about 10 months of use. Called them up (a few years ago now) and I shipped the unit back to them.

The second unit died 2 years later. Error messages and nothing would work. I was told the same thing.

Since my unit was out of warranty, send them $60 US and pictures of my smashed chargemaster and they'd send me a new one.

How you can beat service like that?

I didnt smash mine with a ball peen hammer, I used a 3/4T diesel truck and a crow bar.

Damn thing is tough though. I used a 2x6'' piece of wood to drive onto the chargemaster and the wood broke first.
