I am going to buy a CZ SP-01 Shadow and probably get in to IPSC this year. So I was looking around and they seem to vary in price. Epps sells them for $805 ( which seems cheap ?) and yet there are others who have them for around $900 + ?? Many seems to sell them for $850. I can see a bit of a variance in price but that is a little much isn't it ? Are they all the same ? Any recommendations ? Where should I get my mag holders and bladetech holster ?

Oh and on another note. I have a CZ75B Omega and I had some grips made for it in Hungary. Will they fit the Shadow ? I hope so as these grips are really cool. I also have some springs for the 75B will they also fit the Shadow ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Try Josko at Double Tap Sports for the Mag pouches & Bladetech Holster.
$805 or Less seems the right price. And ask them what year of Production it is. And the newer model comes with 3 magazines now.
And I wouldn't save a few bucks for the springs. I'll buy springs for the Shadow just to be safe.

When I was shopping for a Shadow, this was the best price I found in Canada.

CZ75 SP-01 Shadow SA/DA, .9mm, 120mm barrel, 10 shots
fiber optic front sight, Novak style rear sight, MIL-STD-1913
accessory rail, c/w two magazines & case
Black poly finish, New *$795.00 (tax in)

SP01 shadow year of manufacture is on the slide near the serial number. the CZ 75's are great guns. it's just a pain to take them apart. i have the ghost and bladetech and i prefer the bladetech. now is a good time to buy as they were previously 900 but now are priced from $770 and up. too bad i already have two of them for IPSC/uspsa production. 13 lbs main spring is the first thing to get.

There are two listed for sale on the EE exchange right now. I know the guns and they are as good as new and well taken care of. Check with JohninBC.

Take Care

I have bought several handguns from Guns & Things; great guy to deal with and best CZ prices around.

If the grips are of similar design and profile as factory grips they are good to go.

Had the complete opposite experience. Ordered a CZ75BSA and he sent a CZ75BD with single action kit installed, without asking if that was acceptable. Had to go through the whole re-registering and shipping back and I had to pay for return shipping. In the end I was out $30 for his error/gamble. Will never deal with him again.

I've found that all things being equal, Epps seems to have the best prices on firearms.

Custom grips would not be allowed in IPSC Production Division (assuming that's what you plan to shoot)

Cheers
Q

What do they (IPSC) mean by custom. Mine are thin wattle wood, stained redish, checkered. Really no different than the Cocobola grips CZ sells just nicer looking IMO. Why would they not be allowed ?

I have heard good things too about Gunsandthings, I will check them out. They must be a older model with two mags ? Right ?

Now who sells the new ones with three mags ?

Thanks for all the info everyone.

You said custom...

The rule (Appendix D) is:

20.3 Aftermarket grips which match the profile of the OFM standard for the approved handgun and/or the application of tape on grips (see Appendix F4) is permitted, however, rubber sleeves are prohibited.

Best to check with an RM. Ask them to look at the grips

I am sure after seeing other IPSC shooter's wood grips that mine would be fine. They are custom in that I had them made thinner than normal but no rubber sleeves.

That is a hell of a deal for a CZ. I think I will go with him :)

I would suggest that before you do anything you talk to Nick King in Kelowna. he is the local Black Badge Instructor and he knows a great about CZ's. if you listen to him you will probably end up saving a lot of time and money.

I know Nick. He is obviously a well known shooter in the IPSC world but I find him difficult to learn from. In fact he showed me his CZ and it had wood grips from CZ. He was the one who convinced me to buy a Shadow, but really after buying my 75B Omega I was kicking myself for not buying the Shadow in the first place as it fells better in my hands. Typical mistake.

IPSC Rule Book is available online for everyone to read.
As long as grips are same profile, as Slavex said, it doesn't matter if grips are aftermarket; rubber, plastic, wood or metal.
