Is it only the few actual WMUs that are listed that you legally need the land owner consent form filled out? Or is it now common practice to get it filled out for any WMU?

How is it near Brant county for getting hassled by MNR if you dont have the form filled out?

Form ? what ever happend to a hand shake ?

God im glad I live in Alberta.

Yes your 5% GST tax and no pst is enough alone to live there ,let alone the great hunting you guys have also. We can dream:(
I am interested in hearing more on these Ontario consent forms since I have a brother living and hunting there.

Very few places require it.

I bet it everywhere required it, it would help cut down on trespassing problems.

As to hunting on private land other than the above, from a legal standpoint, written is better than verbal.
But a lot more difficult to get. Lots of farmers will let you hunt, but you'll get a quick 'I ain't signing nothin' if you ask for a signature.

dont you mods ever read the stickies:confused::p

read the sticky from maddog up there^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

My mistake, prior to taking up hunting I didnt read this forum much, other than the occasional Safari type post.

I have permission from the owner and am meeting him tommorow to walk around the property. Its about a couple hundred acres of mixed field, forest and in between stuff. We are all set for the big hunt this Friday! I got my bow sighted in for minute of barn. Weather forecast is calling for 6 degrees and rain so Im not sure how it will workout. My buddy has a buck permit and I am hoping to shoot a rabbit as I have my soup pot all ready.

Sorry for some of the dumb questions I post as I am new at hunting and dont know much other than what ive read here and some of the advice thats been told me, which I appreciate the help.

We hunt in a township that requires written permission from the land owner even if the land owner is hunting with you on his land. A had shake in Ontario only works in back room dealings with malton mcgintic and the old mikee harras crownees.

Yup, Manitoulin Island has to have written permission even though I was hunting with landowner.
There are a few areas that require written permission. One I know of has signs saying so at some intersections in the area.

we have then in ontario for trapping and hunting fur animals all the same fourm .it saves alot of hassel when you run in to tresspasers ..i have had guys tell me i was tresspâsing showed them my writen permision fourm thy shut up and leave in a hurry haha thy were the ones tresspasing haha . i can see this becouming more common DUTCH

The day this starts all over Ontario is the day most will be looking for places to hunt because land owners will stop all hunting, plain and simple. I've talked to land owners about this and they don't want the hasstle let alone the Liability of hunters on lands.

Dutchy, you know how hard it is to get written permission to trap well I was a licenced trapper here too at one time and it was a nightmare but hunting will be far worst...

i find that after taking to the farmers and telling then about the insurance we carry thru the the trpping lic thy are more then willing to sighn the fourms . most farmer like the idea of one guy looking after there place ..i take care of the beaVER PROBLEMS and get to hunt the land for doing it . or thy can pay the 200$ per beaver to remove them . most will gladly let you hunt the land for this kind of deal . and at ;least thy know who is on there land DUTCH

Correct, you will get some land owners to size on a deal when a couple hundred bucks are involved thats understandable and I've as well been in that same situation, but what does the average hunter got to offer to hunt land ???? thats right ,, when a land owner signs a signature on a concent forum he is now open to a law suet if anything happens to the hunter. This will all boil down to insurance ,, become a OFAH member and you'l be in flying colours right ? Wrong !

Keep in mind you are a trapper, 250,000,00 others are just an average hunter they don't trap....

When did life in this world come down to screwing over the people that let you use their land/ properties. The problem is lawyers and all the judicial garbage in this country.

If someone gets hurt on someone elses' land suck it up muffin you're the god damn idiot that did it.

All comes down to everyone wanting to blame someone else for themselves being an #######.
