what AR to get?

Stag_Arms_AR15_002.jpg

I copied your image, resized it (800x600) and uploaded it via my Photo Bucket account. I believe there's a sticky around about posting pics. It's not hard, really.

Nice rifle, btw.

Are you a LEO? What rifle do you presently qualify with? Norinco is fine for plinking, but not what I would use for training...

I suggest you spend a little more from the get go and you will probably be happier in the long run.

I own both high end and low end ARs and there is a difference, but when you get to the midrange ARs the differences are minimal.

Do you train with 14.5, 16, or 20 inch barrels? Consider that when making your purchase, it does make a difference...

Here's a few I would look at

Stag arms
Colt
Rock river arms
Dlask
Sabre defense
Smith and Wesson
CMMG
Armalite

Also consider your optics as well

Do you qualify with Red dots, HWS, scope, or iron sights?

Happy shopping...

..

i have an norc m4 ... very happy with it... though if i ever become richer than i am , i would get a higher end one.... one thing is for sure; give me the choice of any restricted rifles ; it would still be an m4 (with a tavor to keep it company)

I'm very happy with my Norc M4. My cousin has a RRA M16 and he says it shoots and feels the same. Only difference is the looks.

Once I got the hang of it, I hit the gong at Oshawa 3 out of 6 times with iron sights. I dunno if that is good for an AR, but I am impressed with myself and the rifle!

I'm looking for a scope now.

I just bought a Norinco CQ in 556 and went straight to the range and put 250 rounds through it right out of the box-did'nt clean it first or nothing and it shot great with not one misfire. for $699 how can you beat that? Will say though that the sights leave alot to be desired-mine is maxed out all the way to thr right and all the way up but I'm hitting the 12" plate at 100m. 14" barrel by the way. As a note the Sherriffs were qualifying at the range the same day and the instructor came over and shot my Norinco and let me shoot his LRT(?). Now thats a nice rifle but over 3 times the price-and his jaw hit the ground after shooting the Norinco-he said he was impressed with its performance. Not finished quite as nice but when you're trying to let the air out of somebody at 50m i dont think looks play into it.Just a thought.

Not cleaning a new rifle before using it (especially a Norc) isn't a very good thing to do. I think I remember reading a post here where someone's Norc came with something stuck in the barrel from the factory. Grease maybe?

we use a few different AR platforms among other things at work

AR 15 9mm 14.5 inch
AR 15 .223 20 inch

thanks for all the responses and help guys, Merry Christmas

I hate to ask a dumb question, but i dont no the answer.... so its not dumb

explian to me the diff in ,223 and 5.56. metric and imperial, but is there actually a differnce?

thanks

I haven't researched much on factory ammo. I plan to reload my own once I buy the dies, swagger, etc. However, check SFRC - prices should be very fair. theammosource.com (site sponsor). I bought 2k of once fired 223 brass from him.

I think surplus ammo (556) supposedly cost more if you can find them. The Norc M4 can shoot both. Actually meant for 556. :)
