XCR Rules: Your AR can't do this

An AR, if you can find one in 7.62x39, may well be capable of this but I expect it would have problems with functioning and leading. The adjustible gas system on the XCR gives it much more flexibility with lower pressure loads.

Then I guess all those 300 Whisper AR's shooting heavy subsonics are just a figment of the imagination? You never heard of an adjustable gas block for an AR?

Before belittling the AR, it would be better if you took the time to know what you are talking about. Just a suggestion.

The AR can do everything and anything the XCR can do and probably do it better. The only advantage the XCR has is being non-restricted.

And there we have the big one....

I would love to have kept mine, but in the end, having to travel to a only a range, and get a permit was a pain in me arse. It might only have one advantage, but it's a big one. Until Canada changes those laws..... alternatives will be popular. I would love an AR-10 to go hunting with. Until I can, I'll cope with an RFB when it arrives.

Ya, I agree. A tricked out AR can out do a factory XCR anytime. :yingyang:

Look at all these AR fans crying :) LOL....I think the point of this thread it that he is saying the XCR can do it faster (meaning changing cals and being able to shoot lead easily) and cheaper (don't need to spend as much for other caliber conversion kits) then an AR can. And the biggest WIN is that an XCR is non restricted so you can go hunt or do more then just shoot paper at your range with it. He is proud of his toy and enjoying it.

Did I touch a nerve;-) Seriously, I love my AR but cannot understand the hostility towards the XCR. I just wanted to show another plus to the rifle that I don't think many people thought of. The XCR is a tremendously versitile rifle. The ability to fuction and shoot accuratly while not requiring any tinkering with cast bullets is a big plus in my book.

The fact you can take an XCR out in the bush and plink/hunt around is a huge + The fact we are forced to pay double the price for theses non restricted black rifles is an injustice. I would take an XCR over an AR any day of the week with its non restricted class, the only thing holding me back is its overinflated price:(

What's wrong with an 858??? a third the price and ready for the bush.

TDC

I don't think there is anything wrong with the 858 but I don't like that it will not accept AR mags. It also costs $1,029.95 from Frontier firearms so I don't think it as inexpensive as you say. I'd go with an SKS befor an 858.

I shoot IPSC matches once in a while and like the XCR's handling better than any rifle I have tried.

To me those are the "I wish I had an AK gun" and are wayyy over priced. I too wish I had an AK but for the price of the 858 and other simular guns I'd rather go with a $200 SKS that I can abuse and not feel bad about it or break the bank. YES I know the CZ look a bit cooler, takes a removable mag and are a bit more accurate but because I am not going into combat I don't need to do a fast mag change and if I couldn't hit my target with an SKS I do not think I could with an 858.

Fair point on the AR mag front. If you're paying over $700 for an 858 you're over paying by a lot.

I have one, its just not as physically appealing as an AR or XCR

If its looks you're after why not run an airsoft AR?? Cheaper and bush legal?

Sorry, the AK is an inferior rifle compared to the VZ/CZ rifles. I in no way wish I ever had an AK. As for abuse, there is no differentiating between a $200 dollar gun and a $2000 dollar gun. I use and sometimes abuse them just the same. If you're worried about scratching it, pick a different activity.

How hard is it to get the different caliber magazines for the XCR? Like the 7.62 short, 6.8 SPC, etc. I know the 5.56 uses the standard AR mags, which there are plenty of, but the different cals would need special mags so just curious.

I think the XCR would be a neat rifle to own, especially considering the modularity of it, but I'm partial to carbines. If they made the XCR with a 30cm to 40cm barrel, I'd definitely grab one.

I have hunting rifles for hunting. I don't need it for that.
