Has anyone had any experience with the 2.5-16 Bushnell 6500 tactical scope? I seen them for sale for $810 at Higginson's and would like some input from you folks before I consider buying one.

No experience with the 2.5-16 Bushnell6500 tactical, but I use a 4.5-30 Bushnell D.O A and am very impressed with it.I shot f-class all summer, along side all the top of the line optics .No issues with the 6500,great tracking, clear and the rainguard is great with matchs in the rain.Just took the 6500 off my target rifle and put it on my 220 swift, coyotes are in for a heap of trouble over the holidays.

SHOOT STRAIGHT,SHOOT OFTEN!

thanks for the info. I think that I'll be putting one under the tree for myself. Hopefully someone picks up on the hint.

I have a 6500 2.5x16 Tactical on my AR precision upper. Best of both worlds with that zoom ratio! Have a 4200 Tactical 6x24x50 on my 308 Savage as well. Would love a 4.5x30 6500 on my next build.

What are you going to use it for? Great scopes for the $$$. A Sightron might be worth looking at too if the zoom ratio is not as important.

Mostly for shooting F class out to 900m but I was thinking of using it to hunt in a pasture where I would shoot out of a blind at short range but may use another blind at the edge of a 700m clearing. Using 168gr Berger bullets to hunt.

For 900m I would go with the 4.5x30 if the 4.5 is low enough to hunt with. The 2.5 is almost small enough to run and gun with (AR15);) I know I like lots of zoom at distance for the paper!

what's the image quality like around the edges. I've noticed that some scopes have good quality image in the center but the images tend to blurr along the edges. From what I see from the pictures, it looks good.

I've chosen a 2.5 - 16 because of bumping into Grizzlies and want quick aquisition properties to the scope. When I have more cash, I'll get a NightForce strictly for target shooting. Thanks for posting the pics.

Image quality is way better than the pics show. Could not get it to focus 100% when taking the pics. Very good quality to the edges and works as good as the 4200 in low light even with the extra zoom.

The 2.5 is great for the fast stuff, so if your walking around with it zoomed down to 2.5x you will be ready for a fast shot. I have mine mounted on a AR15 and can move+ shoot with the scope (not quite as good a s a dots sight but ok)

You will be very happy with this scope;)

That's a pretty cool picture showing the zoom capability. That kind of range of magnification would be great on a hunting rifle that sees pushing bush and shots out in a field.

I've got the 6500. Not really any major problems. Towards the high end of the magnification I have some issues with mirage and focus. I'd say that its a great scope for the money. Want to put another on a dedicated F-class rifle but figured I'd rather save my pennies a little longer and get a nightforce. \

I too had problems at high magnification settings (above 12). The image lost definition and appeared "soft". This was with a second 6500 that Bushnell warranty sent to replace my first one (a year old) on which the side parallax adjustment failed.

I sold it and bought a Sightron SIII 8-32x56 which produces considerably sharper images than the Bushnell even at 32 power. It is, all round, a great deal better scope for not much more money.

Incidentally, these scopes were on my Sako 338 Lapua:sniper:

highcalibre: 33hoffman and damadama above have said it all !!! No more needs to be said for Bushnell or their warranty. I've spouted my displeasures in the past and there's no reason to hash it out again. Just suffice to say I dought I'll ever buy another one especially when Nikon are in the same ballpark.....However if you really want opinions start a new thread asking people about their problems dealing with Bushnell....I'm confident you'll get a "FEW" replies......................TBG
