Anyone think a Milsurp Ammo sticky would be useful? A sticky where all known milsurp calibers are listed and who makes ammo for them.

For example, .303 Brit would read something like:

.303 British
-Winchester, 180gr PP
-Federal, 180gr SP
-Privi Partisan, 174gr BTFMJ

And it would go on listing all the calibers. This can be useful for so many people, for example:

You have an hour to kill, so you head to your local gun shop to browse. You see a beautiful condition milsurp hanging on the wall, you fall in love with it, buy it, take it home BUT realize you have never heard of the caliber before and have no clue where to get ammo for it. BUT you remember that awsome genius LeeEnfieldNo.4_Mk1 started that ammo thread on CGN. So you fire up the computer, log onto CGN, click on the thread and Boom, you see that your caliber is made by a few manufactures and is readily available. You say "Wow, thank god LeeEnfieldNo.4_Mk1 was on CGN, he is so cool and smart, thank you LeeEnfieldNo.4_mk1, you saved me lots of trouble".

Or something like that...

Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk 1 IS a genius

A spot on idea.

I am quite sure that many will benefit from the great knowledge that exists out there among fellow Gun Nutters!!

Also, if you are like me desperately seeking a source of 38 SW ammo you may find the answers you are looking for. Anyone?? Somewhere??

Thanks.

38 s&w is rather easy to handload.

For most milsurp collectorys handloading is about the only way to shoot some calibers.

6.5x55 in
- Prvi (SP, BT 139gr)
(I used to buy Remington and, Winchester at CrappyTyre but, that was the good 'ol day dunno where it is now or, specifics)

7.62x39 in:
-Prvi (PSP 123gr)
-S&B (SP, 123gr Boxerprimed)
-Czech surplus '90's (no brainer...for now!)
-MFS (Both FMJ and SP)

8mm Mauser:
-Federal (SP, 170 gr)

...not too sure we're I'm going about this the "right way" as, we'll end up with 100 pages and, possible repeats! Plus, where it was "found" and, price might be useful too...pick a moderator, any moderator (like they don't have enough to do ...)

My local gunsmith (Accuracy Plus in Sharbot Lake, ON) is AWESOME to deal with and, a real "live" smith! For Ammo, you also can't go wrong with SFRC (they have "spoiled" me!)...they both seem to go to great lengths to find what you require!

I'm all for your idea and you are a marvel of inovation but your name is waaaay too long to type over and over so how bout I just say LE#4mk1 is AAAAWsome for coming up with the Idea!!! Now tell me where can I get some 8X51R ?!?!?!

Ya, something like this should be in the hands of a Mod or at at least someone with more organizational skills then me.

I figure sort it by Caliber (small to large), list the caliber, then under it, the make, grain, bullet type, the average price, and who usually sells it.

Winchester and Federal still make 6.5x55 with 140gr SP bullets. Federal also offers the Fusion line in 6.5x55 with 140gr bullets. I have some Norma with 160gr RN bullets, but I don't know how old it is and if it is still available or not.

Except for reloading, who makes .30 carbine here in canada? I went through all the standard suppliers I know and none of them carry it. I saw some ammo on gunbroker but it was 1$/rd ++ and I don't even know how I could have them shipped here. Help ?

"...BUT realize you have never heard of the caliber before..." That's why you must do some research.
"...who makes .30 Carbine here in Canada..." Never has been loaded here. Few shops carry it because of the rifle's restricted status. Not enough demand.
sacan3, where you are matters. .38 S&W is fairly readily available, but maybe not where you are. Shooter's Choice, in Waterloo, Ontario, for example, lists Remington at $37.95 per 50, I think. Add your location to your profile.
Listing where one can get components would be better. Factory hunting ammo is far too expensive.

So having a quick to access resource guide is not research?
