Hi, a guy I know have a Winchester 9422, he bought it in the early 70's, so I guess it's one of the 1st batches.
He hasn't used it for at least 20-25 years, it's hanging in the safe since.
He told me he'd sell it to me, but asked me to give him a price, I'm a bit puzzled, don't want to leave a lowball impression on him, but don't want to overpay for a rifle 35yrs old neither.
It looks nice, as for function, he told me it was doing great last time he shot it, 25yrs ago.
I can't try it since we live a few hundred km apart.
I saw one on the EE board 2 weeks ago, it was $450 with a scope, and it was sold in a few minutes.
I have $400 in mind, is it too much? Your idea?
Thanks!

These are excellent rifles. $400 for a nice one is not unreasonable. Don't worry about its age, they don't go bad.

you may have the answer to your own question within your own post. There's a reason that it sold in only a few minutes. I bet they could have gotten more. ck
