Anyone Know what the going price is on these or the 54 Match in Canada? I am thinking about buying one in the next few months if one come up. Also anyone know right off what trigger they had?

Thanks

I have a model 54 that I am looking to sell. I have zero use for the gun, and I would take around $1000 for it if you're interested. Let me know, I can send pics, and depending where you live, I am willing to travel quite some distance to do the sale.

1411 were nice rifles but their triggers were not as good as the 5071 and 5018 found on later 1600-1900 series. The other major problem is that their cheek-piece were not adjustable. If you're looking for a competitive smallbore prone rifle, look instead for a 1811 or a 1911. Much better rifles.

With a set of sight, in excellent condition, I'd say that these rifles could be sold between $800 to $1000.

TrxR,

If you're looking for a benchrest rifle, then you don't have to look specifically for a 1411, any 54 barreled action will do.

When I started benchrest shooting, I bought a 1911 Prone Match because it was the most usable stock design for benchrest use. I soon found out that nothing can replace a benchrest stock. Affordable wood stocks for the 54 are available from Don Stith: http://www.donstith.com/benchrest_stocks.html

TrxR,

The 54 round action by itself remained basically the same for over 50 years now.

In the triggers department, there has been some improvements over the years: as far as I'm concerned, the 5071 triggers found on the 1600 serie and the 5018 that equiped the 1800 and 1900 series are far superior to what was available on earlier models.

The barrels were also offered in different lengths and diameters. Some say that the ones manufactured in the early '70 were made of an excellent steel and offered a superior accuracy: quite honesty, even if the rifles made in this era were indeed excellent, I have never been able to see a significant difference in accuracy between these and the newest models.

For benchrest use, unless weight is a critical matter for you (if, for instance, you have to make a certain weight for a given class) I'd go for a model with a heavier barrel such as the 1613, 1813 or 1913.

Hope it helps,

Paul

See manual here: http://jga.anschuetz-sport.com/downloads/Manuals/EN/BA_Match54_1965-08-01_EN.pdf?downloads

"Match 54" - is the name of the action (family), then there might be differents stocks and triggers.
See my pics at http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5080559&postcount=435- it's 1411 stock and 1407-U9 trigger (2.5-5 ounces)

Thanks for the info. I was trying to figure out what is the diff between a 1907 and a 1913?

Also do you know of anywhere that deals in used Anschutz rifles or barreled actions?

The differences between a 1907 and 1913 are barrel length and diameter (shorter and thinner for all '07 models) and the stock, although with the new aluminum stocks that really doesn't apply anymore as I don't know anyone who buys a 1907 with a wood stock.

I believe North Sylva is the only authorized Canadian Anschutz dealer, as they bought out the previous dealer when he retired in the late 90s.
