Is it ever too cold for trap shooting?

Was it 12 separate holes or 6 threw & threw or should that be through & through. Sorry I get confused ;). The most holes in an unbroken Clay I have seen is 7, sorry no pic's. Happy New Year to you too.

Seven is good.;) I just have to get one with 12.Thinking about it out loud I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact most of the guys here are shooting old wheel weights for shot melted down. A guy at the club sells it. I tried one bottle but it was as hard as the hobs of hell and I didnot like seeing sparks flying out of the end of my barrel in the day light so gave it away.
If the shot was not deforming at all it may explain why so many holes

Not sure! You will have to ask the spank. He was the op of that remark or you could ask 3mac1 as he said he has seen more than 12 and will provide a pic.

I will definitely bring my camera this year on reclaim roundup day. Hopefully I can find another as "Holy" as the one I found a few years back!! I'll bet I get some pretty wierd looks as I walk around photographing unbroken targets on the ground. LOL:p

They will be locking the two of us up this spring.:D

I would just pick up clay. No need to risk the wierd looks til you find one with lots of holes. If you don't find one, don't sweat it, because it was 3macs1 that offered to get the photos of 12 holes and more this spring.

I hope I can handle the pressure alone

Here to hold you over, not counting the two pellets that chipped the rim there is a dozen plus for you.

3macs1,
That clay pic certainly looks like it got lots of tiny holes in it? What it does not look like is a target that was thrown from and shot from a normal trap or skeet field and later picked in the target drop area? I have got to admit that I really have not picked too many clays and forgive me for saying this but it looks like a clay that was shot dome on while it was stationary. Probably some type of pattern test? Just curious, but why did you name that file photo "rio12clays" ? Maybe Fall Guy picked it right?

That is not my pic originally just one I found of some guy complaining the targets were not breaking. It was just to hold covey over until the spring. So I did not name it but know it was shot in flight not stationary.
The tiny holes is exactly what I am used to seeing skeet shot is very small diameter remember.
Geez so now I have to find targets with 12 holes min and prove they were flying when shot. I have never seen anyone shoot a clay sitting??? That is like shooting geese on the ground. You get tossed out of the blind and labeled ground swatter for life.

3macs1,
If that was not your pic and you did not say that you were there when it was taken then I will assume that you do not know for sure that the clay was in flight. The holes, all of which are through the dome are not consistent with any normal trap or skeet presentation. They could be consistent with a sporting presentation or a hand thrown clay but I will not assume that. That clay and the broken one next to it could very well have been shot where they were photographed. If all of those spots on the clay are holes as you claim, then there are similar spots or holes in the background wood and leaves. Magnify the pic and you will see what I mean. That, along with the rio12sclays file name would be consistent with a patterning exercise. Everyone who has ever patterned with an open choke with a clay target in the center knows that the clay does not always break. A face on or dome on presentation can survive quite a few holes without breaking, but such a presentation is not a legal trap or skeet target. No need to provide anything to hold me or tide me over. I am patient and will wait to see what you come up with. One of the ranges where I shoot is very seldom picked. I will be there for the spring thaw and see for myself. You will not have to prove that the target was in flight. Although I am not a clay picker, I have seen enough holes in clay to know what a peppered trap or skeet clay looks like.

I give up. We will talk more in the spring when I have TSN down to tape the target with the 12 holes flying in the air. Are you related to my wife by any chance?? She believes no one also.:(
