What type of leopold scope should I buy?

You first need to decide what quality of scope you want. Leupold makes models from the low end to the mid-high. See link below for a reasonable ranking for quality. My thoughts are that the Bushnell Elite line of scopes offer better quality and value than Leupold.

If you plan to use the gun for varmints and target then I would suggest a 6-24x42 AO scope.
 
Personally,I would install a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 with the Rapid Z-800 reticle.Unlike Leupolds,the Conquest has a constant eye relief,that doesn't vary when you change the magnification.
 
If you are hunting - I would say get a nice VX3 4.5-14x40mm or a 3.5-10x40mm. If it is for target shooting, I would recommend an adjustable objective type scope with a 4.5-14x40 or a 6.5-20x40. I am not a huge fan of 50mm obj scopes as they have to sit higher however they will offer better images at higher mags.

i just put my 3 to 9 leupold with the lr reticle on my 22-250.great for hunting coyotes crows etc .
