OK, i've been playing with the idea of casting for years as my grandfather used to cast. Only thing, that was before my time, and i've never seen it or done it. Anyone in 50 miles of stratford ontario cast who wants to show me? I'll bring beer for after?
 
Well I am in Saskatchewan and you can bring your beer here and I'll show ya a few things...hahaha. I got into casting about 2 yrs ago and I love it. I can cast up a ton of boolits for very cheap. I recommend you check out www.castboolits.com, much more and better info as that is what the site is geared to. Best of luck with your casting and watch out it gets very addicting. I have about 15 molds now, I really dont need that many, but you know how it goes. Matt
 
It would definitely be better to watch someone do it in person. Failing that, check out youtube. There are a few decent videos there. If you decide you want to salvage wheel weights, or other forms of lead to make your bullets, have a look at the sticky at the top of this section for a peek at yours truly in all my safety gear :)
 
Check out some of the You Tube videos. I didn't have anyone local to teach me, but caught on fairly quick with some online help. You'll just need something to melt lead, a ladle and a mold to get started.

There is about 2 or 3 of us on this site that have been casting for over 40 years each and you know I still log on to cast boolits everyday. From the absolute basics all the way to chemical composition of lead and how to mix it are discussed.

You can find all the answers to your questions on that site, go thru the stickies and you will find you really don't need to go anywhere else for casting info.

Casting is very addictive. I started off in the early 70's because I couldn't find a bullet for a rare lever action rifle that I wanted to reload for. There was no INTERNET and other than a couple of gun rags and a Lyman book you were pretty much on your own. Things are totally different now, almost instant answers to questions, videos of people casting and numerous websites.

I actually have an Excel spreadsheet for all my molds and supplies and currently I have 134 molds but that changes weekly,:D.
 
If you are going to get into casting I would suggest you buy Lyman's "Cast Bullet Handbook" . It really is a must read for new casters and will give you a very good start. The book also serves as an ongoing reference guide.

This website is excellent with a great deal of information posted. The guys there have yeras of casting experience and are always helpful to new casters.
