BCRA Tactical Rifle Championship 2011?

CRAP! The June dates were easier to make than the current mix of July dates. I'm already booked, darn it - seriously wanted to get back out to Chilliwack for this event (using a stock Remmy .223 this time)!

hmm gonna have to call in sick for a couple night shifts I guess. errr I mean book holidays.

Hello John,

Why not 3 days of shooting over a long weekend 4 days with sight in day For a Provincial Championship .
Remember this shoot happens once a year and is attended by some serious competitors That look forward to this shoot every year, if we can give the shooters a full schedule over three days and keep the course of fire challenging and busy ( with out over working Markers like we did last year - actually had to reduce Rnd count and drop two stages and last year was over 2 days )why not if we find that three days is to much we will take it back to two and adjust the course of fire. The Tr FClass Provincial Championship championship is over 4 days plus a sighter day - said championship has been well attended for over 10 years also shot on a long weekend ( majority of it anyway )

So that makes 3 matches on the same weekend in Western Canada now and I know the Eastern Cdn FClass Regional Championships is also the same weekend in Ottawa LOL.

SK - Driller's FClass Match
AB - Western Cdn FClass Regional Championships
BC - BCRA Tactical Rifle Championships
Ont - Eastern Cdn FClass Regional Championships

Great planning eh!

Yes... I was hoping to go to both the Western F class (at my home range) and the BCRA tac match. I'll do the BCRA match, It is a tradition ;)

Ed, Martin and I had talked to you at the BCRA AGM last November about the possibility of having some practice sessions. I'm definitely intrigued by this match, but it's a very different type of shooting than I'm used to as a TR competitor. For example, I've never shot at a moving target in a match before and would like the chance to develop some skills beforehand so that I don't totally embarass myself at the event.

Now that you have an idea of the course of fire, do you have an ideas for practice/training sessions over the next couple of months?

Anand

Training movers is a little difficult unless you can get a range that has butts and some buddies to run the targets for you.It would be very nice to have a day or two to practice it on Volkes.Maybe tag onto one of the target practices?
Don't be worried about embarassing yourself. There will be LOTS of police, military and high speed civy shooters that will be happy to be embarassed with you. ;)

Hello Anand,

I would love to be able to tell you that I have several practices scheduled ,and that you and LOT of other competitors could sharpen there skills However , I cannot! the BCRA is at the mercy of the CF as well as LE training and with the limited availability of range time scheduling for all BCRA Disciplines The membership needs to be told(at the AGM ) that practices are desired by Tac shooters, and if enough voices are heard and members seen ( at the AGM ) we will be rewarded with some extra shooting. Only place that will get results is the AGM next AGM is November, only with strong showing/ attendance and Voice of membership ( discipline specific ) will we get anywhere so please show up next AGM and speak up for the cause Please ,please , please. As for not having any practice or experience shooting at movers join the club I would suggest that 90 % of shooters have limited to no mover experience , come on out Anand, and practice like / with the rest of us at the Match !!!

If I have that long weekend free, I'm definitely planning to be there.

I was just wondering about Mission. 300 yards might be enough range to practice some of the disciplines, and there are well established butts. Surely there are enough BCRA/TAC rifle people who are members of Mission to be able to set up some kind of practice session, even if we don't use the exact same targets as the real match?

p-17,
In the past there have been some TAC Rifle Matches held at the Nanaimo Range. The schedule is found at BC Rifle Association site under scheduls/forms. http://www.bcrifle.org/index.html
I notice the 2011 schedule is not yet posted.

From my experience as a non shooter (from the butts), you can have a look at course of fire from previous years. Look at pictures posted from previous years. Practice the positions.
You can practice at any range with a friend. Set up several targets, have friend call which target and also count seconds/time for exposures....For the movers you may need to do some reading or one of the many helpful shooters at the match will give you some free tips. As it as been said and I can't say enough about...lots of really helpful folks there. They are just too busy now making a living and reloading to have organized practices. Shooters also come from far and wide including outside of BC. Just my $0.02.

I have seen a few guys practice at PCDHFC Range on Burke Mountain. The shooting lanes on the far left A & B allow prone and kneeling.
