I was at the local gun store and handled one. Is it just a certain vintage or company (norc/poly) that makes this sloppy synthetic stock? I thought it looked awesome on the shelf, but then I handled it and it turned me off completely.

Does one company (norc/poly) make a tighter stock than the other? Or is this to be expected (making a aftermarket stock a must).

Thanks.

I find poly stocks always feel cheep. My ruger mini14, 10/22, savage 10fp, m14 wannabe plus others all came with craptastic stocks. Change it, don't look back. Ps the Boyds pepper laminate on my m14wannabe is sooo ###y. Tight, smooth, grip-able... I may need a moment alone....;)

on the other hand, the chu wood stock feels like gronk's club next to a usgi fiberglas model- ( if you don't know who gronk is, try to remember "it's about time"

The stock is fine for a $500 rifle, you could spend a lot more but try it with the base stock, not the wood one before thinking of spending so much extra for a new stock.
