This is pretty accurate for a Norc AR right? *Updated at 100 yards*

I've just reloaded my first batch of .223 and I think I'm happy...

Norinco M4
cheapo NCStar scope and NCStar handguard

55 grain generic FMJ Hornady bullets

These were shot at 50 yards off a sandbag. The first two to the right were two test shots I fired with only one round in each mag. (wasn't sure if my reloads would blow up or not!) I realised my scope was off and gave it a click to the left. That is a 5 shot group into one hole after that.

This is another 3 shot group. These were the best I could do today with the cold weather + too much coffee + no breakfast.

Well, here it is at 100 yards...1 MOA confirmed! :D

Thanks for the compliments guys but I'm pretty sure it's the gun. Could not believe it when I saw that 5 shot group out of a Norinco!

Anyone with a Norc M4 should try some shots with good ammo and see what happens. I knew my reloads would shoot better but I was not expecting this. I was getting 2 MOA at best with the Winchester white box stuff.

Honestly, this was just the starting load straight out of the Lyman manual for a 55 grain jacketed soft point using Win 748 (though I was using 55grn FMJs).

25 grains of Win 748 under a 55 grain Hornady FMJ at 2.208" OAL

I think I could do better still as I set my OAL quite short (same as factory Winchester stuff) to make sure they would feed properly the first time around. As mentioned, these are my first rifle reloads.

Theres that magical Win 748 again keeps showing for the last 30 years for me when i think of ball ammo service rounds aka 762 NATO. Why didnt you think the Norc wouldnt be accurate lol.

When I was in Australia last May using my borrowed M4 and M855 my groups were all around MOA and a few were between 13-19mm (the range was all electronic and gave you feedback as you shot).

I left the 100m zeroing range thinking damn this rifle can shoot, then the reality of a 14.5" barrel and matches at 200m set in, then 300m hurt and 400m plain sucked. My point is 50m is ok and 100m is better but what does it do at 200, 300 and 400m?

The longer range being a disadvantage because of short sight radius on carbine if you werent using scope or weapons/load combo MOA changed drastically at the longer ranges?? Sorta like the enfields MOA tightening at 600 yds versus 300yds, only the reverse?

I made a thread a while ago about the accuracy of these norc m4. I used 55g fmj and 26.5 of 748 and was ok at 100 but not very satisfied.at 300 it was totally random. I tried some 70 gr berger VLD with 26.5 varget and those bullets shot like lasers. I was sub moa out to 300 yards.

So the question is are you saying your MOA is way different at 300 yds then at 100 yds. 2MOA @ 100 not approximately 6MOA at 300yds with the 55 gr ball load compared to the bergers.

Oh and by the way, "I Eat Better. I Eat Burgers!"R:d:
