I just bought a very nice used Ruger MK II from EE. Does anyone know of a site that I can find out what year that my pistol was manufactured in ?

Thanks. After looking at the link it appears that I have a MK II made in 1989. Can't believe that my "new" , used pistol is over 20 years old. I honestly thought that it was one of the later years that they produced the MK II, like 2004-2005

I was on another forum site that is more USA oriented, and the guys on there were all raving about the MK II. Saying that its better gun than the MK III, because of the extra cleaning from the chamber indicator, and less material on the wall because it was machined off. They were saying that the new magazine release button on the MK III is'nt the greatest and the old MK II bottom release works better.

I feel quite pleased about my decision to save myself a few bucks and buy a nice used MK II now, then paying the extra money for a new MK III.

The reason why people want a Mark II over Mark III is also the machining is better by the older generation, young guys don't care much.

What do you mean by the machining is better ? Is there some corners being cut to save time when they manufacture the MK III ?

I am a Machinist, so that sort of thing interests me. I would be curious to see a MK II beside a MK III to see the difference.
