As far as equipment goe's we've seen guy's share gear in the past. Not a big deal you just adjust the shooting order to allow for the switch off. And as far as qualifications go I see no problem with asking for BB or equivalant.

I should clarify...
The thing about equip. rules that sometimes irks me is when match after match the same guys show up with game inappropriate rigs.
Okay... Y'wanna try IDPA, but all you have at the moment is an IPSC-y race gun.
I'll take your $20... You can shoot, but next match please bring a game-legal gun.

This probably isn't gonna be an issue with what we're discussing because you will have different divisions shooting the same match... It's only an issue in games like idpa where the gear rules pretty much limit guns based on their action type and permitted mods

Don't see how this comment fits here. Old SOF type course mentality? Scope on rifle ok Scope on pistol? Chase you till the end of the earth with a pitch
fork.

fork.

I probably doesn't...
I'm just pointing out the possibility that at least initially you'll get a few(at least) shooters who just want to try the game but, don't necessarily want to invest in gear that meets the letter of the rules.

If all a guy has is a bolt gun, an over/under and a five shot snubbie and he wants to shoot a three gun... Sure. Go ahead. Just don't expect the match dir. to tweak the rules so you can be competitive in whatever div you elect to shoot in...

I think that go'es without saying. The it works in IPSC three gun is if you show up with a standard division rifle & shotgun but a comped pistol with optics you are now in open division for the match.

Exactly, but what I'm getting at is if you set up a three gun match you can reasonably expect most shooters will be using AR's for rifle...
If you determine that you run what you brung applies and many guys are using those 10rnd AR pistol mags as MD I'm not going to say they can load 5 rnds only just to br fair to the guys who are shooting their sks

I believe you have to make your own rules for Canada firearm laws. Let all know what the rules are and what is allowed and disallowed. If you don't have the proper gear then score them in an outlaw division and keep thier scores seperate.

It takes time to become good at using 3 guns safely and coming up with your own rules lets you spell them out.

I have shot many three guns in Canada and the US and being safe and having fun is what it is all about.

My two cents.

Run what ya brung is just what it is. If you brought a mini 14 or a M1 carbine you best be good at changing mags cause there is no special considerations coming your way. Thats how we run three guns & and it's never really been an issue. If your equipment isn't up to everybody else's that's your tough ti--y don't cry about it fix your problem.Sure it's more fun if you can be competitive but it's really about gettin out havin some fun & throwin lead down range. Face it nobody is gonna get rich playin this game.

I wonder if a way to g about this, and maybe get this started, would be to identify, 4 or 5 clubs that would seriously consider this in Ontario, like I said, with an eye towards doing a Provincial Championship. I am pretty sure we could garner the support at EESA:D. So there is 1 club, anyone else want to identify themselves?

We could possibly then do a meet and greet, and come up with some form of plan, share ideas etc..

I have held and depending on schedules/time/motivation may hold more 3-gun at Guelph.
If I decide to put something together anyone is welcome to volunteer to share the load work-wise.

That said... I'm not interested in the blessing of or tything to USPSA.

I didn't realize USPSA was a Religious organization:confused:

A lot of Canadians are Members of USPSA already, because they enjoy shooting USPSA Matches.

Mixed feelings..

USPSA is established and has a large following which leads rule (and safety) enhancements. Use their scoring system (and programs) Why re-invent a wheel?

Can we not simply use their rules (and even affiliate) and have a "local" match stipulation on mag capacity, eg 10 max handgun, 5 max rifle (don't confuse it with the 10 rd AR handgun mags).. just keep it simple...

I have a question or 2 for 667.

What time does the bus leave for the US matches?
Will you be organizing buses from different cities?

I miss shooting at Winona with the gang.

The short bus leaves at 0'dark thirty.
Be at the corner on time. Wear your Velcro shoes and helmet.

Will you be organizing buses from different cities?

One bus from Funky-Town. One from Sufferjet.

I miss shooting at Winona with the gang.

Yeah... 'Good times.
Gone but not forgotten... If we ever do get back there I call dibbs on Beach-Left.

and there are a lot of people unhappy with uspsa as well.
From what I've heard... And granted it's just hearsay from some of the folks I've talked with at US matches... Uspsa is in decline.
True or not...? Don't know... 'Guess it depends on who you ask.

I still think the independent, club run route is the way to go.
The only problem will be finding people willing/ able to carry the picnic basket.
Having 100 guys say they want to shoot 3 gun won't make a match happen. You need a few to say "we'll put on the match"
