Not sure where to put this, but can anyone tell me how long the Norinco M-14 mags are?

My M-14 should be here on Monday, and I want to put some ammo together. I'm using DA brass, trimmed to 2.005" and I got 1000 150 FMJ bullets from one of the sponsors here.
The bullet, seated to the cannelure is 2.830", and I'm wondering if there's enough room in the Norinco mags for a cartridge of this length.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Maximum overall length is 2.800.
Looks like a 2.830 will fit in the mag, whether they'll chamber is another matter.

Typical overall length for me (trimmed to 2.005) would be around 2.715-18 (roughly)

Exactly what bullets are they?

They're Prvi FMJ bullets from Henry N.
I'll seat them deeper if I need to, But I'd rather crimp them at the cannelure. I guess I'll wait until the rifle arrives.
If the throat on the Norincos is anything like my FR-7, I'll have lots of room at 2.830"

To answer your question directly, inside overall length of the mag is around 2.855.

BTW, try 8208 XBR with neck sizing ;)

Above all , have fun w:h: :50cal:

What kind of loads your running just to get off topic. I need to find a starting point. I have a pound of IMR 3031 I use for 30-30's so I figured it would be a good start.

I am shooting the same bullets out of trimmed brass. OAL is 2.730 and feed just fine. They could be 0.150 longer and still fit in the mag no sweat.

If you make them too short your #### will fall off and a screw will fall out of your rifle.;)

You should be loading according to a book not a rifle magazine dimention. Check the max overall length in the book and do two or three. If they fit the mag then load at that.
