Sniper Engagement Rules- 50 calbre BMG

Well, sendmorebrains.... when someone is trying to kill me, and we are doing the same back, as far as I am concerned at my level.... what else am I going to call it? I am just an uneducated high school drop out.

I apologize for the threadjack now. I am done here. Want to argue with me, send me a PM. Cheers.

What the hell are you talking about. Sure seemed like I was at war when I was there.

Although I never used the TAC50, my personal team engaged enemy pers many times with an M2 .50

Ask a JAG lawer if Canada is at war. The answer will be a sigh, followed by a simple "no". Canadian troops may currently be involved in Combat but we are not currently at war with anyone.
We are currently in Afghanistan at the request of the Afghani government to aid them with security and development.

That said it is easier to tell tell the troops they are part of TF something and on the "Road to War".

It is a Geneva Convention thing. You also can't shoot at para troopers while they are descending from the sky.

Best thing about the US boys we fight side by side with is they supported the Geneva Convention but never signed it. ( or at least thats what I was told when asked why we can't play with their rules)

Early .50BMG rifles were used for EOD and anti-material work and weren't really accurate enough for true sniping. That of course has changed.

Other origins of this myth could come from a 'save the 50 ammo for enemy vehicles or hard targets' mentality which over time evolves into a 'Geneva Convention' thing.

Also another possibility is specialty .50bmg ammo like AP or incinderary being passed out (again, usually for taking out UXO, or assets like vehicles or static aircraft or SCUDs, etc) and the practical application gets misconstrued as some humanitarian restraint to be cleverly circumvented with belt buckle jokes.

Great pic in an otherwise mostly unfortunate thread.

You're talking a lot, but, you're not saying anything. Before you post, try reading Wikipedia or something like that.

Because thats a reliable source? Ill give it a try and since anyone at anytime can change info freely ill take it as the truth.

If you had ANY military service in this country then you would remember the good old Warrior's Manual. If you do or happen to have a copy of that open up the pages under the Geneva Convention chapter and blow the dust off and give it a read.

Is that enough info for you or should i post that on wikipedia?

canadas not at war were peace keepers and i doubt unless ww3 starts we will never be at war

Please tell me your joking.

I am sure there is thousands of troops who would not see it the way you are. I know from my experience's I wasn't keeping a whole lot of peace in a country that smelt like the back side of a dead donkey.

Oh, it has to be true....I heard a guy the other day telling his buddies that "they" are not allowed to use the 50 cal sniper rifle anymore, because it's inhumane! "Even if the bullet misses you by like 4 feet, it will still rip your arms and legs off!"
