The worse rifle you ever owned

Any Remington 700
Pure and utter junk.:D

Funny you say that, My friend got one of those Green VTR rifles from Remington last May. (the one with the muzzlebreak cut into the end and the triangle barrel.) ................anyhow, we were getting keyholed groups of 6 to 9 inches at 100 yards with 4 different types of factory ammo (150 grain, 165 grain, and 2 types of 180 grain) plus 2 homeloads. We did the whole re-mount the scope/rings/bases, tightened all the action screws, etc, boresighted, then the groups stayed exactly the same. We thought the NEW Redfield scope was hooped, so we put on my Burris fullfield II , and it was the same result.
Then I looked down the barrel of his gun, and IT HAD NO RIFLING CUT INTO THE BARREL!!!!!!! This gun escaped the factory with obviously stellar quality control. The best part is the dealer said my friend must have wrecked the rifling by shooting improper ammo, and it was a circus to get it returned.
Anyhow, I own a Remington from 1978 in 7mm mag, and its a real barn burning , accurate rifle. I guess Remington has gone severely downhill since the late 70's in the Q.C department.

Ya I'd say so. As stated earlier in this thread I have a Rem 597 that underwent barel isues that Remington would not fix under warenty. nor would the Gun store where I bought the thing. I thought that maybe because it was a china made economy 22 it had poor quality...............then I read through this forum and I must say that its a toss up between Rem 700 and Rem 700 in 7mm rem mag. for first place and a distant second and third going to Rugger mini15 and mini30's.

Lakefield Mossberg .22 semi was the worst, most unreliable gun I ever owned. I also got rid of my 597 that liked to FTE & FTL regularly.

Remington Model 700 BDL was my worst gun, just because the blueing was really thin on it and everytime I took it out in any type of damp weather it would come back all rusted. Also it was a Mid 80's model, and it had a lousy safety that would'nt lock the bolt into place when it was on Safe, so a couple of times I actually opened the bolt by accident while I was hunting and lost the cartridge that was in the chamber.

I would of been so pissed off if that gun caused me to not take a Moose by not having a round in the chamber when I there should of been. I sold that gun, and now I hunt with a Stainless Steel Tikka T3 Lite that never rusts, and the bolt locks shut when the safety is on.

My all time worst gun is a shotgun though. Its a Remington 870 SuperMag. What a piece of $hit. Those things are such garbage now adays. After about 250 shells that have been put through it, the stupid gun acted up on every 5th or 6th shell, and would not cycle properly or eject a new shell, with a spent shell at the same time. That gun caused me to not shoot atleast a dozen ducks, and the last time I used it, I had a dozen Canadian Geese about 20 yards away from me, and I could'nt get a round off. I tried everything to fix that gun, and it went to 2 different gunsmiths and knowone could figure it out. I sold it for parts, and bought a Baikal MP-153 and its indestructable. For a cheap shotgun, I can't believe how good it is. I currently own 6 guns right now, and unfortunately only 2 of them are made in North America (Rugers). The rest of them are all made in Europe, because they seem to be better quality.( Tikka, two CZ guns, Baikal )

Russian Veper. Came in .308. Built (they claim) in the same factory as the druganov sniper rifle. Piece of crap. Third shot in a string would float all over the place. Heated up to quickly with the .308 rounds.

Not worth .10 but I paid over 700 for it.

.375 Ruger Alaskan, hands down the worst rifle I've ever owned. I'll be taking my 1022 out for large game from now on. (It's all about shot placement dont'cha know!):D

my .22 lakefield model 14-p tempered pin broke first 5 shots
my carl gustave 84 mm missfire and heavy ! loll
my cooey 64b bad mag's
my stevens 30-30 bolt action was not accurate !

I was going to buy a Ruger, til I read through this thread. I'm also surprised at the number of Tikkas mentioned. Didn't read one complaint about Browning.

Sig mosquito pd 610$ for it, great looking gun but I must have got a lemon it would not properly cycle even one clip. Tried different ammo but didn't change a thing. But that's a pistollia.

Toss up between a rem 700 that took a lot of work by the gun smith to make it worthwhile or the mini 14 that was great other than it patterned rather than grouped ;)

Yea, I had some issues with a few rifles...

1. Bakail single shot 308. Nice looking twist on the barrel, open sites, capable of scope mount. Tried 10 different factory loads and it could group at 50 yards, with or without a scope.
2. Two Savage rimfires - one in right hand 22lr and one in left hand 22 Mag. Poor factory sites, misfires (although I've read that that can be rectified with some filing of the pin that allows the firng pin to strike more directly onto the case, and ignites the primer more readily). I picked up anotehr one with stainless barrel and accu-trigger. This one initially had poor (faulty) scope mounts (weaver) and a lousy scope on it (cheap Bushell). But once the mounts were changed, and a better Burris scope installed the groupings were much better and seemed to have been rectified. Still a few misfires, but I suspect this can be fixed. Fairly accurate through with Hornady v-max. It would be nice if they made a heavier v-max at 40 grains tho.

3. Remington m-1917. Still in good over-all shape but groups poorly, and only has open sites. A new barrel upgrade, bedded stock (or replacement) and tapped for a scope will probably bring it back into line.

4. A model 94 that shoots Remington 150's very well but can't group the new Hornady Evolutions. A trip to the smith will be in order to see if it has any issues that can be rectified.

weatherby vangaurd

had a weatherby vanguard that wouldnt shoot under 3 inch groups no matter what ammo i fed it, handloads and factory ammo, wouldnt take it back so i gave it back to the gun shop i bought it from and he consigned it, never to own another weatherby. it was also my first weatherby
