Question from a Newbie

Howdy yall, I just had a question to ask you folks before I go ahead and start posting on these threads. Do you have any problem with african american shooters? I don't mean to accuse anyone on here of being presupposed as a racist, it's just that where I'm from there are some people in the shooting community who don't like blacks all that much. I know this because I got into shooting probably about half a year ago and for a while there were no problems but then I went to this one range and there were some racial gestures and remarks made towards me. I've met plenty of white shooters with absolutely no problem with people of any color, but I have also met my fair share of shooters who are white supremacists, and I mean openly, so I just wanted to clear things up and ask the members on here what their opinion on black shooters is, thanks. And I am from the USA, if you were wondering.

While I've never come across any African American shooter at our club, I don't see any reason to expect any such problem. I saw a friend who is from Nigeria at the range and he didn't mention anything of the sort. We have lots of Asian members ranging from yellow to dark brown and at least 4 of our ROs are Asian. In 10 years, I have yet to see any kind of racial issues.

Not saying it won't happen, but I venture to say that it is very unlikely to happen. I am in the Vancouver area where I think at least half the people are not white, so maybe that's why racism is not evident.

If by chance you are in the Vancouver area, PM me to arrange to meet at the Port Coquitlam range.

Never seen any bad comments against any race on the range, I've been shooting for over 40 years. I did see one case of targets with the face of osama bin on it, one of our muslim members was using them.

Hello and Welcome to CGN.....I am sure you will find that Canadians as a whole at this site alot less narrow minded then some of our neighbors down south....especially in regards to race....that being said every group has a few idiots  and this forum is no exception .....but if any unsuitable remarks are made the mods will jump in and sort it out .
This is a great source of info and equipment and I am sure your visits to will be enjoyable ....

Man i find it hard to believe there is a fair share of white supremacists at shooting ranges in the US, ive shot down there i never seen any racist stuff go on toward anyone .. There will always be racists everywhere in every group but i dont think shooters are more likely to be racists... you will have no problem shooting here ,heck at the PoCo shooting range white people are the minority lol everybody gets along just fine... we just worry about putting lead down range and proper range safety not skin color....

My son, I don't care if your white, black, purple or pink, it don't matter to me. I'm glad you joined the forum, the more shooters the merrier. If anyone gives ya grief, kick their arse and saunter on, they sure deserved a good s!@t-knocking. Welcome, and don't be afraid to ask ?'s or pipe up, we're all here to learn. Cheers.

Man, to hell with purple people, unless they're choking... then you help them!

:p

To the OP, nah, I don't think that will be a problem, welcome to CGN. :D

I've never met anyone at the range who was racist, but then again they might just be smart enough to keep their mouths shut around me. I have a very low tolerance for stupidity. Welcome aboard.

this is the 20th century not the 1860 s. in the modern world racist remarks should not happern. welcome aboard and enjoy the site.

What part of the good old U.S. of A?

"it doesn't matter if you're black or white , pink, purple , or yellow"- well ,TROLLS ARE GREEN- and that's not mentioned

No, no problem with anyone that wants to shoot.... we're all brothers in ARMS.
The only racist remark I have ever heard was when I asked if anyone knew why we have no Sikh memers at our club when we have such a thriving Sikh community. I was told because they aren't allowed to shoot full auto.

I am am still thinking troll.

Yup I smell troll as well, but I'll give him the benifit of the doubt.

No matter where you go racism exists in some form. However i've never personally seen it at any range i've been to.

Welcome to cgn! Don't sweat your colour up here, no one cares. There is still racism in Canada, but blacks make up such a small percentage, nobody has got around to being racist about them. Sadly, being asian or indian (native, or actual indian) still gets a bit of B.S. from some of the bubbas, but pay no attention, most of the sounds from their mouths are not true langauge, more of a grunting, swearing noise used to define territory and bolster courage.

Have fun here! Are you a West coaster, a flat lander, or an East ender?

me too, but if it is, fail troll.

I've never seen any racist comments, or attitudes toward anyone at any of the 3 clubs i've been at since I've started shooting. If people are interested in the sport they've always been welcomed, so long as they participate safely.
