Brantford

quick side note/question for the mods/admin. is there any way Pokpok's account can be set up so this :jerkit: is attached to all her posts?
Lets take it easy on the dutch bashing, they make great chips.

Just curious...but why do you even need to go there?

NEED? As I say to the antigunners when they ask why I NEED a handgun.

A free society is not predicated up on NEEDs but wants.

However as the "official" forum for IPSC world wide GV does have an important place to fill. It is where upcomiong rule changes are announced in some cases debated.

If one really wants to keep an eye on the goings on with IPSC it is about the best place to do so.

Not to mention since a portion of every IPSC shooters fees go towards its support it is also a RIGHT>

Um...no....

Communications (in both directions) should be through our local "officials".

Have a question about a rule...call Phil. Not happy with the answer, bump it to Mark H. Omitiing them from the loop is not only disrespectful...it's rather useless.

I can see it now...shooter shows up to local match with flame thrower on PD gun..."no it's OK" says he...I got verification from "insert random name here" at GV

We have very open access to our elected officials, we also get regular communiques. No one is being left in the dark here...

If you guys really have to do this in a public forum..most of them are on CGN (Sean, Rachel, Josko, Pat, Bernie, Phil, mark...the list goes on)

Pick your battles guys...

What year it is now? At the time of Facebook and Twitter you want us to use phone to call our officials? :)

If what you are saying is right, then why do we even need a GV?

I agree with John on this, GV is an important information channel and IPSC members in good standing should not be cut from it. I can understand that some officials can't stand certain things, but all IPSC members should be able to read the official forum.

What did we ever do before the internet...we must have just sat around in the dark rubbing sticks togther wondering what was going on outside the door.

PS...I never suggested the Phone...you did.

Right, and before that we're walking few thousand kilometers for a meeting we planned couple years in advance.

Things change. Even IPSC HQ understands it. Look at their media stuff. The new director and everything...

Oh, I don't know any other meaning of calling Phil other then by phone. I don't want to call him names, he may not like it. :D

Yes but you refuse to accept that if you enter a domain you're obliged to accept their rules, not expect them to change to what you think the rules oughta be.

Rights don't depend on payment. Do you lose your rights as a citizen if you're unemployed or if you've never paid income tax? When you pay your annual car fees, does that give you the right to ignore the speed limit or other rules of the road?

You've lost this debate -- to a woman -- and you won't lay down.

.

Did you miss the part where I said that when something is wrong I fight it tooth and nail until it is changed.........OR someone uses REASON to change my mind.

All you can ever come back to is FORCE as a weapon. That is a sure sign of a lost argument.

Where was the discussion amongst any of the above about the rules regarding the 2/3 target? Where was the discussion about the loss of the Metric Target?
Where IS the discussion about MG? (other than here).

It is the discussion BEFORE crap happens that you get on GV that I am concerned with. If you want to just float along with the flow and abide by what ever the WB decides is right for you then you have a point and the regular system works.

If you want a small and limited view as to what goes on then for the moment the GV with all its problems is as good as we have. It should can could be much better which is what I work towards.

I think you just proved my point actually...

You don't have a vote at the General Assembly...Sean does. Sean get's his feedback (often in the form of a vote at the NEC) from the SC's...The SC's gather their info from their members...none of which happens on GV.

If the only place you discuss this (take the 2/3 target for example) is on GV...all you've done is silence yourself...and please don't tell me we need to restructure the entire organisation...with a senate...and yada yada yada...It's not going to happen...so you need to decide how to best make your opinion count within the current structure...and IMHO it's not GV.

You can discuss it on GV until you're blue in the face...but if it doesn't travel from our SC to our RD to a vote at the General Assembly...it amounts to nothing.

Forums are just a place for people to argue...

The 2/3 target was not discussed here until it was TOO LATE!

That is my point. Perhaps we just need more comms from all levels or more people who actually care at all.

The system is designed to frustrate those at the bottom, leaving those at the top to pursue what ever interests them. This much is obvious. There are far too many layers and cutouts. Sh!t rolls down hill but has to be pushed up.

I agree.
In regards to smaller targets we were kept in dark till it showed up on GV.
No SD or RD explained to us anything in regards of smaller targets.
We have our Ontario Website, there was nothing there.
