A very happy nine year old! (April 9 Update on page 4: First range visit today!)

My youngest daughter tried shooting a real rifle last summer for the first time--a Henry Mini-bolt .22 borrowed from my Dad. She was a little small but she really loved it.

So, for her ninth birthday she got her very own, with stylin' orange stock.

(don't worry, the action's open and muzzle is pointed well away from everyone)

She took no time in personalizing the rifle.

and now we can't wait to try it out! Presenting, Canada's latest Gun Nut!

You are a good Dad. Get them started early and it will be a lifelong love. I started my kids out on a mini-bolt. Great little 22. I still kick myself for selling it. But the kids get bigger and I upgraded to another Henry 22 lever.

Don't forget to save those pics for her wedding.

It should have come with a little silver plaque(unless they stopped doing that) that goes under the the pistol grip.

I hand't even seen it there--it was covered up by protective plastic. When my daughter saw it she did not want engraving--here's her suggestion:

That's a million dollar smile, your daughter has a great dad! I'm teaching my own little ones to shoot, and it looks like she's off to an excellent start~her finger is even off the trigger for the photo!

I haven't read all the responses, but your decision to expose your daughter to the shooting sports, and teach her proper gun safety is, in my mind, going to help ensure that our great grandchildren (and beyond) will have the freedoms we do.

The expressions on the kids' faces I've seen in this and other threads like it are absolutely priceless. She obviously loves it, probably even more so now that she's taken the time to do some decorating with the custom decals.

I've never handled one, but from the pictures, it looks like Henry builds a great gun for the youngsters. Happy shooting!

That is pretty cool. I have been bringing my girls to the range for a few years now. I found that small things such as stock color or having something engraved can help them become interested in shooting by giving them a sense of ownership. I ordered a pink overmoulded hogue stock just last week for my girls .22...The problem I have now is that my 14 year old now wants her OWN centerfire ...I am actually pretty happy about that.

NiCE! Mines in the mail for my boys 6th Birthday on the 20th. I hope it makes it. It's in Orange as well as it's his favorite colour. He won't be able to shoot until we get out of the Arctic in 4 or 5 months.
