I'm looking for a basic LED flashlight that I can mount to a picatinny rail. Everything I have found so far is in the $100+ range. That is just over kill for my needs. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Are there generic picatinny rail mounts that will hold anything "round" lets say?

Has anybody ever tried putting a flashlight in scope rings? I'm thinking about trying that. I know it sounds a little "Red Green" but I think it will work. I have about 5 Garrity LED flashlights that I bought from Walmart and they are great. They have survived the torture test of my wife (who will be the first person on the planet to figure out how to break water...), my 6 year old girl and my 1 year old son. If my family can't break them, NOTHING will.

If I do try the scope rings on the flashlight, I will take pictures and share my results.

Using scope rings is not new and was the norm before dedicated weapon lights. Pick up a weaver ring and throw a light in it and you will be good to go. I am running a weaver ring with a Fenix TK10 on my 858, with about 1000 rounds down range with no issues.

Yup... Some guys like to use 100mph tape around the light then put it in the mount also... They say it holds it in there better and some say it puts less stress on the light (I dunno about that though).
