Dlask shorty barrel for 10/22~anyone have one?

.22LRGUY, I emailed dlask about the 12" sporter and they told me they were seeing the same groups as the heavy barrel (very good) I imagine accuracy will only really suffer when the barrel heats up, like an 18.5" sporter, or when you neglect to clean it.
Robin2y, I sent my maverick 88 barrel out to dlask at the end of may and still havent received it, I imagine they must be pretty busy right now.
 
Thanks for the input guys. Love to see a photo once mounted, it would be the standard/tapered barrel I'd be after too.

I did recieve the 12 inch bull and 16er for my othe two DAR22 builds; however, the lightweight one was what I had hope to finish putting together first. As an FYI, the axiom collapsing stock is just over 26 inches w/ 12 inch barrel/fully retracted for those looking for pistolesque packing of a non-restricted 22 plinker.

I wanna rehash this thread in order to hear about peoples experience with the tapered barrel. Im thinking of picking up a Dlask shorty for my 10/22 sporter, but i kinda like my walnut stock that came with it, so im just wondering what people think of tapered barrels vs bull barrel. Is there any real reason to go bull barrel over regular contour? I dont think my stock barrel has ever heated up past the point of being able to touch it with my hand, so this really seems moot to me.

dlask barrels

I have one 10/22 with a GM heavy barrel and one 10/22 with a dlask 16" threaded sporter barrel.
The dlask has accuracy just as good or better than the green mountain heavy barrel. I'm very impressed with the Dlask, I expect the short version of it is just as good.
The HB is best for gophers, bench shooting and silhouette / paper. The sporter is great as a walking gun.
 
12 and 16 inch barrel status?

Can someone please clarify for me wether the barrel length affects the status of the Ruger 10 22. My current understanding is that the 12 and 16 barrels are non restricted as long as your overall length remains over 26 inches. Am I right?

yep, thats right. as long as the gun cant collapse or fold to less than 26'', your good to go.

I have a 12'' heavy and love it. I was surprised at the accuracy in such a short package.

The .920 barrel would be much stiffer. Even .22 cal will flex when shot. Unless it's full auto heat is a non issue. There is a reason why serious target barrels are big ole' fat things.

I picked up the regular contour 12", it shot real nice and looks great. I only went and shot it quickly, I didnt have time to do a full report and take pics, but I will. Im getting ready to move to calgary this weekend so time is a little scarce right now.

I purchased it straight from Dlask. Josef is a great guy to deal with, and i will be purchasing many more products from this Canadian manufacturer.
