SL8 Optics?

What optics do you guys use on your SL8 rifles?

Im just wondering because I will be buying a pair of scopes for my SL8, one will be a long range most likely ten power for hunting varmints etc, and the other I want to be more of a action shooting scope, like an acog or something along those lines...

any opinions on this to help me decide would be great.

I am on a budget though, so lets say I need to stay within 500 dollars for each, any opinions on something good?

Anyone have any experience with the HK SL8 3x carry handle optic?

Grouse river outfitters and one shot tactical supply. The vortex SPARC is worth considering for a CQB optic (~240). You could pay 500-750 for an aimpoint micro or an eotech holo sight if you want to drop more dough.

Stay away from NC Star. They are cheap for a reason.

As for a longer range optic you have a huge number of options. Narrow it down a bit if possible. Are you looking for a certain style of reticle? Turret adjustable, or more of a hunting style scope.

Not something I would even consider putting on an SL8.

As mentioned, check out Vortex.

Or just take your $1000 and get a better low magnification variable scope, like a 1.5-5 or a 2.5-8. That kind of money would give you quite a bit to play around with, especially if you consider keeping an eye out for deals in the EE.

As for dealers, One Shot carries Vortex.

well I like having the turret adjustable scopes after putting one on my hunting rifle, reticle doesnt so much matter, I only really have experience with mildot reticles on my guns.

thanks SL8-5, I may look into that, but im looking for somthing with a little magnification, so if I bought the 3x magnifier with it that would be at least 1000 bucks.. Im thinking more along the lines of a 1-4x 24mm scope or an acog, elcan, etc. something with magnification that doesnt completely rely on batteries.
 
thanks alot, i appreciate the help man, I dont know much about optics yet... there is an elcan in the EE for 500 bucks, but if it is 1000 brand new, then it must be in rough shape!

Mostly change up between irons and Eotech 522 with a 4x magnifier.

Occasionally use the single optic carry handle too.
 
Before anyone 'informs' me that I have too much scope for my SL8, I understand I may have too much scope on my SL8.

I put a NightForce 5-22x and I love it. I hit dimes at 100-150 yds.

I will probably put that scope on something else whenever I G36 my SL8, but in the meantime - I am having fun. I will admit it looks a little over the top with the sunshade.
 
Best bang or your buck 1-4x scope is the Trijicon Accupoint. I have a TR24G and think it's awesome. Clear optics, good reticle, and decent price. Built like a tank. Almost as good as my nightforce 1-4 in the optics (IMHO).
 
cool thanks guys i have alot to consider, now what kind of rings do I need for say a x32mm, 24mm, and 40mm scope? I have heard that low profile rings are no good on an sl8, is this true? I would like the scope to be as close to the rail as possible..
