Okay first things first, I don't want this to turn into a forum fight, I'm just looking for some opinions on muzzle brakes for the m14. I want to one day (hopefully soon) chop my barrel and replace the front sight and get a muzzle brake that reduces recoil (instead of getting a rubber butt pad). What's the best that would suit this purpose. I like the look of the SA one, but don't want a super sci-fi/modern art piece funky looking one

BTW, obviously flash hiding isnt required and pics would be great!

Thanks in advance!

lol, well man, keep an eye on the EE, its where I found mine. Alberta Tatical Supply gave me a price on one as well, but it was a bit to rich for me. Rumor is they are one of the most effective brakes.

I just mounted a brake made by SA ...let you know in a day or so how it works..

This is the SA model i just bougt from Brownells...it has the lugs cut into it so its a direct replacement for the original

You realize I assume that you will have to rethread the inside of the brake if you want to use it after the barrel chop...As that is what I am doing...

Pic of inside after honing and rethreading ( stock flash eliminator)

Here's a couple of custom brakes by a friend of mine, Leo Cormier, made on demand so let me know if you are interested :)

This one is on my baby. It involves cutting and re threading (he can do it all for you if you desired).

This one just goes right on, no gunsmith required

Nice looking brake....Let me know how much he wants for one like the bottom picture (sight base attached) but threaded inside.

Is the brake solid on the bottom ...or are there holes there too ? How does it compare to other brakes out there?

Thanks

Another vote for the brake Leo manufactures. He had 4 or so in his shop when i was there the first of the month. Anyone interested in one, i got the ok from Leo to put people in touch with him.

It has to be by PM. Forum rules prohibit posting the info else the ban hammer will smack someone. eg. MR Lazerous2000

Please Pm with the brake info. I will be in the market for one in the spring and I want to evalute my options.

Exactly ;)
