We found this old Ross Rifle and was wondering what it would be worth to put on EE or if it had any value to anyone.Please respond,Thanks.

That thing needs completely wire wheeled then sandblasted than probably a lot of wire pull-throughs just to fire it. I would say $30 as a parts gun only.

Just curious where did you find it. Looks like it was in a barn.
 
I've dealt with worse clean up jobs than this where bores were rated as poor condition.

Those so called "parts gun" are now fully functional again with good-very good bores and strong lands. All you need is a bit of 0000 steel wool, some elbow grease, and some love in your heart and you can bring just about anything back while keeping their history intact.

Ross sporters seem to float anywhere between $150-200 but I am no expert on their prices. The price may also be influenced by the type of Ross rifle it is (1905 or 1910).

Seriously though, the rear action screw is all I need to finish up a less than perfect M10. 'Prap's the buttplate could also come in handy.

Should I end up the successful bidder for the whole rifle, Mr. Smellie's gratis christmas care package of old ross bits is gonna cost me some serious coin to ship:wave:
 
That rust doesn't look too serious at all. Surface rust hardly even pitting the surface by the look of it. As has already been said - some steel wool and elbow grease will probably clean it up pretty nice. Certainly doesn't need wire wheels or sand blasting.

Cleaned up and if it has a shootable bore it's probably $150-$200 on the EE since it's been sportered.
 
I would say $100 shipped. That's what the parts are worth. The bore is your big question - if it's toast, $75 shipped.

I say this because Sportered rosses in shootable condition are usually sold at parts value. Seen more than a few at gunshows for $100 or even less in shootable condition.
 
I've been in the market for a cheap-ish Ross....it's a Canadian firearm that I don't (yet) have in my gathering....

Looks like a sporterized MkIII. Rear sight bridge is missing so you would need to find that to try to restore, . Hard to tell if the barrel has been cut. The stock looks cut to the point where it would be hard to splice on a forend and I think the stamped numbers are gone. Could be made into a shooter if it cleans up and the bore is usable. Otherwise, might be parts for another restoration.

There might be a few usable internal parts, but most everything is rusty...even if it was in excellent shape, it's pretty Bubbaed. $150 max without the rust.
