Would you hide a loan from your wife to buy a gun?

Personally I have a "special" Credit Card.......

It's paperless VERY IMPORTANT

She knows I have it, she knows I use it. She thinks I pay it off in full every month...... "well sweetie it's just easier when I'm ordering stuff on-line if I use a CC"

We have a deal, I can spend (with-out talking it over) $300 a month on gun stuff. This has to cover Bullets, powder, primers & other misc. type stuff. In all honesty, this is a very reasonable amount of $$$.

So now I have a CC with a max that is just (barely) covered by my $300 "allowance", and she still thinks I have 9 or 10 firearms total....... Last count the CFC says I have 38 firearms.......

She gave me an inch and I took a yard...... Really it's her own fault, she has been married to me for 15y & she knows I am fiscally un-reliable!

Cheers!

Lol nice! Good for you!

if you need a loan then you can't afford the gun, .

Not necessarily true, that could be said about everything. Many people take loans simply because they don't want to wait and interest rates are so low it's not an issue. Also when talking black rifles by the time you save up enough cash to buy one, the price has increased far more than the interest you would have paid.

Set an amount you both can blow each week or each pay. Then save for it don't take out a loan to pay for anything other then a car, house or an education.

Never hide loans from the wife any money you make is also hers. I've lived by that and we are at 15 years as of January 14th. Also if you find yourself jobless and she's working just realize what you do now will bite you in the ass or be a good thing.

I'm thinking of it. In the army we can get a bank loan to come right off our pay check and it would only be like $80 every 2 weeks.

My wife would loose her s**t if she found out... hehehe.

Im really trying to get a Remington 338 MLR. I think I can get away with this.

Anyone think its a bad idea? Its only $1500 but you know how woman are.

I've got 30 years under my belt with my wife so I can give you a simple solution. Tell her you're buying the rifle and that's that. You're an adult and have a job so you should be able to buy something for yourself if you choose. This is a 2 way street, you can't biatch at her if she spends money on herself. Problem is what you see as a priority is entirely different from hers.
Your wife probably sees buying guns as a waste ( especially if she wants renovations done) of household income, yet thinks nothing about getting her hair done or buying clothes and shoes. So here's your solution.

Tell her you're buying the rifle and if she squawks tell her to buy something for herself of equal value..Works all the time..

If you have taken a loan to buy a gun..... You might be a gunnut
If you have mortgaged the house for ammunition .... You might be a gunnut
If you have sold your belongings to buy more guns .... You might be a gunnut
If you have to throw out furniture to make room for more safe's .... You might be a gunnut
If you post nude photos of your girl online for cash so you may buy more guns...You might be a gunnut
If you have more dried food in your bug out bag then you do in your kitchen...You might be a gunnut
If you can recite lines from every Clint Eastwood movie....You might be a gunnut

Ok I started someone else take over now:D

Keep Your Head Down

You might be a gun nut if your The AKD........ Cus im buying that gun.

From a married old fart: Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy when dealing with the otherhalf. Buy the rifle if you:
a) Want it
b) Have the money to buy it
c) Buying it won't leave you short
But for God's don't hide the fact that you bought it from your wife. S**t like that will come back to bite you in the ass everytime and trust is something that takes years to build and seconds to destroy. Just my two cents coming from years of experience. All the best bud.

if you need a loan then you can't afford the gun, and if you're married it's her money as well. it's a very "i'm a kid" idea but to each his own.

no you got it all wrong man its whats yours is hers and whats hers is hers and it will get real complicated if this guy does this loan thing he may find out how a judge divids ones property in court lol

You would be surprised at how many rifles my wife "owns". I bought an AR for her because it was like the one she used to use ;)

She doesn't have a license so it's in my name.

You could use my other favorite argument, I could always buy a cheap POS and be pissed at it all the time or spend $500 more and get something that will keep me happy and be worth something in a year.

I have her convinced that they aren't just a toy they are investments, and really they are. They're an investment on a secure house and future :D

BTW, what the heck kind of precision rifle are you buying that cheap ????

I don't know your situation but if you feel you have a good thing goin
be honest, earn her trust. It'll come back to you.
Buy her something of equal value.

AKD, I say sure. Why the hell not? You only get one chance to live (as far as we know). May as well enjoy as best you can.

But I'd say to only get the loan if you're confident you could pay it off in minimal time. It's like you're gonna take out another mortgage to buy a firearm, lol. :D Right? Right!??!? :ninja:

$$$$ is not the issue. point of getting the loan was because she would not know I had it. $50 off my paycheck would go completely unnoticed. As far as cash goes I can afford to buy it no problem.

Shes just crazy with saving.

Ill trade in my 308 (5R milspec) so its not a full $1500.

If we were broke i could see this being a bad idea. but its not, and after everyone's comments ....... This is about an epic win for all us married men.

ill get a little yelled at..... sure... but if I fail. What will my future kids think.... and there kids.... so you see. Im doing this for my legacy.
